This is quite a fascinating church with a great story. On the night of September 26th, 1256, a servant of Cardinal Capocci, dropped a terracotta tile painted with an image of the Madonna into a well in a horse stall. However, before the heavy tile touched the bottom of the well, the water suddenly rose and then overflowed with such... More

A frequented church for the locals: I've seen some of the polizia drinking the water from the well before their shift starts, and locals too before going to work. For a donation of your choice, you can take home some of the water in a bottle with the image of Our Lady of the Well on the front - nice... More

There are more than 900 churches in Rome but this one that we had accidentally visited was a nice surprise. We sat there for a moment, took some nice pictures and decided to leave. Suddenly an older man who was the keeper took my friend by the shoulder and took her away. I did not know what is going on... More

Another small church absolutely crammed with art and history, don't miss the miracle water, i'm not sure it works but i can't hurt to believe that it does, for a small donation you can take a small bottle away with you.

I am a retired NYPD Detective and very skeptical person. For over 20 yrs I have suffered with a broken bone in my left foot. The past two years I developed a bone spur in my right foot causing extreme pain rendering me unable to even try on new shoes. On a visit to Rome with my family in May... More

A short distance from the Trevi Fountain is the Basilica Maria In Via. Whilst relatively uninspiring from the outside compared to most churches in Rome, this place of worship is delightful inside but has loads of added history. The history of the current building pre-dates its constructions through the connection of a well and a miracule. Inside the Basilica on... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighbourhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very centre of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping centre, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
