Get a hotel located somewhere between Piazza Navona and The Pantheon - such as the Raphael, Abruzzi, Minerva, or The Pantheon Hotel.... then walk everywhere. It's only a few minutes from The Pantehon south to Campo de Fiori, Or north to the Steps. Blocks and blocks of history, gorgeous piazzas, fountains, churches. Centro Storico has enough history to last for... More

We spent 5 days in Rome and walked everywhere to explore this area as much as possible. Cobbled streets and famous squares like Piazza Navona are just so beautiful. We used a guidebook called DK Eyewitness Travel for Rome to help us navigate and learn a few interesting facts.

This part of the city center is different to the old Roman Empire part, as it is north-NW of the Roman Forum and was developed mainly after the Popes returned from their captivity in Avignon in 14 Century AD. They found Rome deteriorating, with small amount of citizens, with no structure to match their feeling of uniqueness. The old Lateran... More

There is nothing not to like! Every building is beautiful and full of character, no doubt with its own story to tell. There is always something to see or do and eat! It's just a nice place to wander around.

The moment you start walking you realise that there's a history behind in every building. I was already thinking about coming for the next time because one visit is just not enough.

We loved the old town of Rome! Out of all the things we did in Rome, strolling on the old town streets was one of the best things to do

Rome has a lot to offer. This is our fifth visit and we still find new places of interest. Just strolling around without having to go for the "Big Five". Trastevere should always be included. Also the San Pietro in Vincoli and il Campo dei Fiori have to be on your list

Jus go around the town and you will find always a piece of history. A lot of monuments to be visited and each of them have a story to tell.

Staying in Trevi

Neighbourhood Profile
Trevi
A non-stop photo and souvenir opportunity, Trevi is all about action. From early morning through the wee hours, the piazza surrounding Trevi Fountain hosts a never-ending flow of tourists hoping to make a wish or take a selfie. Clever restaurants, charming gelaterias, uncanny bars, kitsch shops, and a range of hotels make up the local landscape. Beneath the bustle are the remains of an ancient neighbourhood that you can visit by heading over to a repertoire cinema and asking for a peek underground. There is something for everyone, but if peace and quiet are what you seek, plan to visit in the early morning hours.
