This tour was split into two parts, so we had two different experiences. The first part of the tour was for the Colosseum. If you are visiting, it really makes sense to do a guided tour to understand what you are looking at.
Nice half-day tour in the morning starting with the Palatine hills, ending with the Colosseum. The tour says to meet at 8:45, but the guide didn't show up until closer to 9 so I thought I was at the wrong place for a while. There...More
We booked a combo ticket with Get your guide tours. It is very important that you buy a ticket to the Roman colosseum that has a specific time as you do not have to queue and just walk through. If you buy your tickets in...More
This should have been one of the highlights of our stay in Rome, however the company "Tour of the City" and the guide doing the Colosseum spoiled that for us and the rest of our group. Late in starting from an obscure side street at...More
We recently did the combo tour- Vatican City/Sistine Chapel in the morning and Colosseum/Forum/Palatine Hill in afternoon.
Massimo- our tour guide in the Colosseum/Forum/Palatine Hill was wonderful. A natural storyteller, he wove the historical information into captivating and memorable stories. He’s the best tour guide...More
My Mum and I booked onto this tour at the end of September and had a fantastic time. Alba, our guide, was fabulous. She explained all about the history and loved taking questions from the group. There were plenty of breaks so you could use...More
After a morning tour of the Vatican museums with an incredible guide, we were excited for an afternoon tour of the Colosseum with the same tour group. Sadly we were very disappointed. The address to meet for the tour was in a small street, with...More
Julia was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. She was knowledgeable, interesting and funny. She was able to make the 4+ hours feel like 30 minutes. Would highly recommend her for any tours in Rome.
I ordered this for my family. I found out the day before the tour that it would be impossible for my family to do the tour. I tried contacting, I could not. I tried calling but was notified the number was disconnected. I tried contacting...More

It certainly is worth doing a tour that includes going underneath. You get much closer to the fabric of the building and see what it must of felt like to be a gladiator. Our tour guide with Walks of Italy was an archaeologist who explained how it worked, such as how the animals were moved to the arena etc. Even my 16 son found it interesting.
