The area
Neighbourhood: Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the centre, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighbouring Borgo, Prati is a local favourite for its aesthetic organisation and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.

Its five arches, entirely covered in travertine, connect the Prati district with the Campo Marzio district. It was created between the centuries. XIX and XX designed by Angelo Vescovali and dedicated to Cavour, the statesman who made Italy. The bridge, not among the most beautiful in Rome, has become famous for the traditional dive on January 1st by the legendary Mister Ok.

This bridge is not too old; it was built between 1896 and 1901 in a style similar to Ponte Umberto I just down stream of it. It has stone arches with travertine facings. It is not a particularly exciting bridge or view although the view is nice along the Tiber.

Ponte Cavour is a lovely bridge. It leads to Piazza Cavour, a nice place to relax. The bridge is wide enough for traffic and pedestrians, and you can stop and take some really great photos. Before getting on to the bridge you can visit the Mausoleum of Augustus and the Ara Pacis Museum. You will not be disappointed.

Ponte Cavour is yet another fine bridge that makes for some great photographic opportunities and also brings you into one of my favourite places in Rome namely Piazza Cavour.
The bridge measures 110 metres long and has 5 very impressive spans and when we were in May with temperatures hitting 30 degrees it was refreshing to walk along the river bank watching the tourists boats plying their trade and just chilling out.
This is a relatively new bridge being constructed in 1901 but it's still an impressive piece of architecture.
I took a few nice photos of this bridge before going to a bar over the bridge in Piazza Cavour.

It is certainly an important bridge connecting the banks of the River but architecturally it does not electrify the gaze that much.
Perhaps only the five arches have a rather enchanting and suggestive appearance!
