Wow what a view. Visited late in the day and had nice soft light over all the buildings. It was fairly quiet. A couple of places open for dinner and fishermen tending to the chores and tasks.
Everywhere you looked felt like a post card.

The building agglomeration in Marina di Corricella is similar to very few other examples in the regional area of Naples. The only neighborhood that comes to my mind as comparable to it is the old part of Atrani, a village on the Sorrento peninsula within walking distance of the more famous Amalfi. In both cases, the dwellings are piled on top of each other, so that the roof of one is a terrace for the one above. The stairs wind between the houses, opening a path between the waterfront and the street above (the main street of Procida, connecting the commercial port to the southern end of the island).
Like all human settlements, this too shows a historical evolution. It seems that originally here there were above all natural caves facing the beach, progressively enlarged by the action of the inhabitants, taking advantage of the rather soft nature of the volcanic tuff of the rocky wall. The construction of real houses, leaning against the rock on the west side and equipped with doors, windows and terraces on the east side, was a process that lasted centuries, and only a few years ago it was arrested and, so to speak, crystallized by existing urban planning regulations. An old photo from 1949 - available on the web - shows that even in that relatively recent year, the building fabric was less dense than it is today (and furthermore that the embankment was really tiny, so that the sea almost lapped the most low houses).
However, the actual fruit of this process is extraordinarily picturesque, enhanced by the skilful polychromy of the plasters, among which pink and yellow prevail. Rather than a real urban district, today it appears a fiction, a dreamscape. And of course it's not.

Great place with a lot of history. There are very nice restaurants and bars where you can enjoy. It is a 15 minutes away from the main port.

Absolutely amazing views. I loved it even more than I thought. It was worth the effort to get here. You will have about a 30 minute walk or so from the port to this side.

Procida is stunning and the view of Corricella is even more stunning. To have the best view walk up to Terra Murata or take a bus. Just fantastic!

Stunning little harbour full of character, exquisite vistas, archictecture and history. Scenes from movie Il postino filmed here. Delightful restaurants dotted along the sea front offering simple neapolitan cuisine. Fishing boats bobbing in the water and real life going on around you. An absolute must if you come to Procida.

In the evening it looks like a magnificent living nativity scene. A fascinating and unique atmosphere. And you drink and eat very well.

Stayed in the port with my girlfriend for a long weekend. The setting is simply stunning and pace of life very chilled. Perfect place to just chill and watch the world go by

View is absolutely stunning, a kind of postcard like. I suggest you to go to a sea view restaurant for lunch (I don’t know whether I can mention the name), where you will have a fantastic panorama view of the place. The first picture I am posting is the view from the restaurant, and the second one is taken on the other side, and the restaurant is on the right hand side white building. You won’t regret because the restaurant is rated very top on Trip Advisor.
