It almost felt alive! That was one of the highlights of our visit. With Rossana (Tours of Pompeii with Lello and Co) at our side, we were almost transported back into those days, and felt it all as if it was today. So impressive to think ~2000 years have passed!

Our tour took us to see all aspects of what life once was here before disaster struck . There is so much still remaining here . The wall paintings give a feeling of the riches of the time and the enclosed back garden allow you to imagine how life here once was.

One of the largest and most interesting houses in Pompeii. It has its name of Menander, Athenian playwright, which placed on portico.

That is also very well architecturally designed house of some wealthy citizen of Roman Empire. There are the large columns in the peristyle of the Casa del Menandro as in case of the House of The Vettii. Very representative is well - preserved fresco of the ancient Greek Dramatist Menander after whom this estate bears its name. Nice paintings on... More

you could just image what each of the rooms were used for. The pictures on the plasterwork and the mosaic flooring are something to see.

this luxury residence is a gem. Many of the walls still have the wonderful artwork on them. The outdoor garden in the center of the property is really cool. The skeleton remains are eerie-but intriguing as well. One of my favorite stops in the city

Although the excavation and site is much more manage de than it was 40 years ago upon my first visit, and so much less was available to experience first hand, there is still reason for awe.

The House of Menander was closed. The 1-star goes to the management as they keep about 80% of all noteworthy properties closed for no apparent reason. With the House of Menander it is especially annoying since it is one of the highlights of Pompeii. It's one of the town's largest properties. Some artifacts found there suggest that it belonged to...
