What is interesting is that my old high school latin kicked in and I could read some of these tombs. The guide stated this was a very rich area and not everyone could afford a tomb.

Make sure to walk down Via delle Tombe on your way to the Villa at the end of the road. I think I walked this about four times while we were at Pompeii.

Like The Villa of the Mysteries which can be reached after walking along this attraction The Via delle Tombe is somewhat off the beaten track for many tourists. However, we found it fascinating. Located outside the city walls as was usual for Roman custom there are a number of tombs lining the side of the road. None are in perfect condition but some give a glimpse of how impressive they must have been for those who saw them at the time.

Pompeians would have regularly visited this site and visitors would have seen these as they entered the town. So do pay a visit and imagine yourself 2,000 years ago viewing these magnificent tombs. All part of the experience of visiting Pompei

It is a pleasant street to explore and imagine what was taking place here so many years ago.

This is a street you may stumble upon or it may be part of your tour.

Not a must, but you will walk into. The way to the Villa del Misteri, so there is that. Good breeze running up so the walk down is refreshing

This is a very impressive street with tombs, and it's really quite neat to see. It gives you an idea of life back then.

Even the roads in ancient Pompeii were well organized and constructed, mostly in a grid fashion like this one.

The road with the tombs is a narrow path that there people were buried. Is a well preserved path with a different sense from the other parts of the city.

The road has different size and shape buildings which were used to house the tombs of important people. They are in various stages of ruins, but they must have been quite impressive as entered the town.
