Not a steep climb to the top, rather a steady walk uphill for those who exercise once a week. The view from the top of Naples, Pompeii and inside the volcano are amazing and well worth seeing if you're visiting this wonderful part of Italy.

You can drive almost to the top, then a quick climb and you have some great views. Track is loose gravel so trainers at the least.

The only thing there is a parking lot. There are some restaurants about halfway so maybe you could enjoy some local wine while he makes his trip

There is no where that I know of that you could store your luggage. If you are driving there is a paid parking lot that had two police officers there today. I would assume it is rather safe
