Palazzo Donn'Anna is a historic residence in Napoli It sits prominently at water's edge at the beginning of the Posillipo coast. The building is on the site of the so-called "Rocks of the Siren" and was originally called La Villa Sirena. It changed hands a number of times and finally was inherited in 1630 by the woman whose name it now bears, Anna Carafa, duchess of Stigliano and wife of Ramiro Núñez de Guzmán, the Spanish Viceroy of Naples. Beautiful place on the rocks with amazing view on Vesuvio.

If you love old architecture and romantic ruins, this building is the perfect location... With a history spanning 400 years (built in mid 1600), this Palace was designed to host the Spanish rulers of Naples, which at the time was one of the largest and most important cities in Europe. The site is marvellous, sitting on a rock projected on the sea. The ideal trip is to go there and ask to see the internal court where you can see Naples and the Vesuvius from an amazing point and then if you are lucky, go down to the beach through a flight of stairs which goes through some incredible grottoes. Beware though, this building is now privately owned and the porter will decide if you look ok to have a look inside. I would suggest you put this landmark building within a longer journey, visiting the whole district of Posillipo. Check this gallery of images: https://www.facebook.com/palazzodonnanna
