Ancient quarter

The old Naples itself. Narrow streets, lots of locals and tourists, shops and churches everywhere. Brilliant.

While overrun with tourists this is a great area of Napoli worth exploring. There are 3 main streets that stretch east-west and provide easy walking routes. The churches are lined along many of the streets with museums and art peppered through the area. Take some extra care to find highly rates places to eat as it can be hard to... More

Busy, bustling and loud was my first impression. Returned to this area on another day this time with a tour guide who brought the area to life for me. Narrow cobblestone streets with shops, markets, restaurants and apartments. Looks like its just pedestrian but watch out for cars and scooters.

Walking through the Decumani is what we imagine that the real Naples of old was like with its cobbled streets, narrow passageways, small shops, street restaurant, apartments above and activity down below. Walk it, shop, eat and enjoy. ...

The old centre is a Warren of streets with shops, food shops, churches, cafes, pizzerias all jostling for attention. Add in the lunatics on their scooters and its a unique atmosphere. Real Naples? I don't know. But fun all the same!

Very good way to get a better feel for the city and people of Naples. A tour guide recommended that I use my 3 hour wait to walk the narrow streets... While the streets may seem like they are for pedestrians to walk and shop, each out for the mopeds, and the occasional car. Grab some food from a vendor,... More

We stayed in a hotel in the Decumani neighborhood of Naples the night before we flew home from the week of our 40th anniversary trip to Italy. It is near the University and is a very vibrant neighborhood. Our stay was on a Friday night and a lot of people we out on the narrow streets and alleys of Decumani.... More
