This church is devoted to San Vincenzo Ferreri which here is also known with his nickname of 'o Munacone. This is a gorgeous basilica in a poorer section of the city. This basilica is unusual in that the alter is located above the ground level accessible by stairs on either side. A unique experience in a beautiful church filled with paintings of famous local artists such as Andrea Vaccaro ! Young talented actors and dancers guided us through a visit of the basilica church in a timeless and fun way :)

we had an extremely knowledgable and enthusiastic guide. He took us to see the historic catacombs beneath the church. The young man revealed many fascinating areas and described the findings in a very articulate way. It was a truly wonderful experience. The group of people who are responsible for this impressive restoration project should be very proud of their achievements.... More

A group performed "Pulcinella" for children from the church. Even though I don't speak or understand Italian I still enjoyed and understood the performance. It was outside under a bridge built by Napoleon's brother-in-law and the lighting was terrific. A friend then gave us a tour of the church and it was beautiful. I like that they use the large...
