Overview

Around the origin of our Catacombs much has been discussed, they were simpleburial and never were quarries or underground ways; the first note of the monumentis repeated since the death of St. Agrippino our bishop in the II century, when hisbody was buried there in a noble tomb. Many miracles the saint operated by thetomb, so it became a place of reverence and neapolitan wished to be buried in thatplace.

The best and little known attraction of Naples. A cool retreat from the hub-hub and frenzy of the old town. The knowledge and passion of the guides who work as a cooperative to support the poor community that they serve is more than impressive. Spectacular.

The Chiesa di Napoli was very impressive, as was the architecture and decor in the Catacombe. It was nice to be able to visit this sight at my own pace.

Came directly from the San Gaudioso Catacombs( 168 bus)to my next 'resting place'. Ticket was valid for both .Excellent guide. These catacombs are much bigger and spread over two whole levels. They are full of arches and 'cubicles' (for want of a better word). Mosaics...More

We had a great visit, the tour guide, Miryam, was informative, and the mission of the entire organisation is to bring money and tourists to the area. I highly recommend the catacombs they were an experience.

A fascinating glimpse of early Christian burial customs, dating from the 5th century up to the start of the 18th. Some of it rather gruesome (particularly, in the San Gaudioso catacombs, the ‘fashion’ for mounting the skull of the deceased in a hole in the...More

Excellent tour guide. Very informative. Interesting view of how many Naples once was. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but worth the trek there

I like the fact that the money goes towards restoring the catacombs. With that said, it needs alot of work. The catacombs are 95% just holes. It would be great if they had concept art of what one would look like. Have a section restored...More
