This was the reason we wanted to come to Naples for many years and it did not disappoint. We'd been previously to Pompeii and to Herculanum on this trip, and the Museum showed us a wealth of artefacts that had come from both those sites. Watch out for the schedules for when galleries are open and closed. We were disappointed... More

The works of art in this museum are priceless. Every floor had lots of items of interest. The gabinetto segreto (secret room) was unbelievable! We were quite shocked to see some of the items in there. Do not miss this while in Naples.

Took my mom there back in 2011. What a wonderful place. So much history to see. It is a great day trip and a must see while in Naples. If you are in love with Italian history - then make sure you visit. I think it was only a few Euros to see and we'll worth it. Enjoy!

If you are interested in the ancient city of Pompeii and its ruins, this museum hold most of the frescos, vases, glass, sculptures and art that was found during the excavation of the city. I would reccommend first booking a half day tour of Pompeii, then go to this museum on the second half. It is easier to piece together... More

A really first class museum; not only the Farnese collection and the pieces from Pompei and Herculaneum are excellent, but the Egypt collection as well. The book shop is rich. There are only two disadvantages: it was terribly cold and (contrary to Museo Capodimonte) there is no bar / buffet.

Overall the museum is well laid out and manageable in scale. The exhibits provide an interesting overview of the history of Naples and it is easy to make your way around the exhibits and follow the various settlement time lines. An easy and enjoyable afternoon experience.

Astounding gallery displaying many of Italy's finest relics of the Roman era in particular. Curation is accessible and engaging, with audioguides available, but ample info in English on every exhibit. As you arrive in the Museo tube station you may pass a replica Hercules of immense proportions. Just wait, though, till you learn the story of his substitute legs, and... More

Possibly one of the best museums in the world!!! The collection is impressive, with many unique pieces. It deserves almost a whole day. Beautiful location and nice cafe

I was so looking forward to this but visit was it spoiled firstly by difficult access. There was no handrail to help you up the main steps and then when we entered the museum we were accosted by a very aggressive female guide who insisted we "do" her 60 euro hour long tour. We said we only wanted to see... More

There's a lot to see here, though you are unlikely to see it all on one visit. Whole sections were closed and, having just about got over that, you find quite a lot of the open areas also roped off. Do take an app/guide book/guide with you if you're not familiar with it because there is not a lot of... More
