This museum houses relics found in Pompei. I would recommend going after a visit to Pompei so that you can really imagine the pieces in their original home. Items include pictures (there are so many more that I thought there would be), mosaics, pots, silverware and coins, although the coins were not open to view when I visited. There are... More

Even if you do not visit Pompeii this is a fabulous collection of truly out standing pieces. If you intend to go to Pompeii this should be your first stop because it contains most of the mosaics, statues and other "keepers" found at the site. Entire mosaic floors are reassembled here with some fresco's-not sure how they moved those items.... More

The guides were charging 60 euros each for a 1 hour tour!!! By passed that one. Very disappointed with lack of explanation on items. Not even in Italian. Beautiful building though. 12 euro admission fee 10 minute walk from Metro stop. If using the Metro try and see the Toledo stop which is beautiful blue mosaics and lovely lighting. Good... More

This is the place to see works removed from public view at Pompeii because they are considered too erotic. It's worth a visit to get insights that you won't get anywhere else

Awesome place and hard to believe the level of craftsmanship on the mosaics, frescos and statues etc. Most of them came from Hercalaneum and Pompeii

This museum is probably one of the most important museums in Italy, with numerous finds from Pompeii, Herculaneum and surround area being displayed. The brilliant sculptures, mosaic and fresco are so very impressive. If you are into ancient history this is a definite must. Unfortunately at the time of visit they have closed a few wings for renovation/events (including concerts... More

We had visited Pompeii before we came to Naples and now believe that one has not seen Pompeii without having also seen the fabulous murals, statues, household goods, glass and other items removed from the site and so well preserved and protected at the museum. We also enjoyed their Egyptian collection, the Pompeii erotic art room, and the fabulous Roman... More

Get there earl before the groups start to arrive. Apart from the treasures from Pompeii & Herculaneum, there are some fabulous statuary from ancient times collected by the great families over the centuries and donated to this museum.

This is a wonderful museum and a must visit before you are going to Pompeii if Vesuvius and Pompeii are part of your agenda. The rooms with archaeological artifacts from Pompeii are just stunning with sculptures, paintings, frescoes, vases and so much more. It also has a full scale model of Pompeii, which is as fascinating to look at as it... More
