It's an ugly statue, with a queue to take a photo and touch its nose. It's kind of hidden, I only found it by the line around it. I found the wild boar from Florence that throws the coin but catches a tourist of the same suit much more interesting

Busto di Pulcinella is located in a rather darkish sort of corner. We happened to come across this one purely by accident and stopped to examine it for a while. We had never seen anything like it before. Apparently it's meant to symbolise, in a manner of speaking the Neapolitans, the people of this city. There is quite a long history behind the "mask" and the looks of this character. In fact this character is a complex of many different "personalities" or characters, all representing the different types of people, their moods, likes and dislikes, and the way they act and react in everyday life situations. All quite interesting! It's certainly worth a look.

Placing your hand on the nose with the beak of the mask will bring you good luck - give a try. His nose is shinny since it is one of the most "touched" statues in Naples.
His name is Pulcinella and is a character in Neapolitan puppetry, he resembles the people of Napoli.

It is said that placing your hand on the nose with the beak of the mask will bring good luck, that's why his beak nose is shinny since it is one of the most "touched" statues in Naples.
Pulcinella is a stock character in Neapolitan puppetry, he resembles the people of Naples, he has many personalities and is a famous comedian political puppet character that is descried as "the voice of people", he is lazy and eats a lot of Pizzas.
The bronze statue of Pulcinella is present in a small alley at the corner at via dei Tribunali. Worth visiting and rubbing his nose.

Pulcinella is a classical character taken from an early form of theatre and later puppetry and is a part of Neopolitan culture, symbolising the voice of the people. Visit the bronze statue in Via dei Tribunali in the old historic centre and rub the nose for good luck. It's always worth a try!

This is where I understood what Napolitans cherish and who the figurine portrayed everywhere was. Pulcinella (Polichinelle) is the symbol of the people and their wisdom. It portrays the mentality of the people and of Southern Italy. Rub his nose and you will be a happy man.

We stumbled across this bust down a small alley off the main drag. Lovely little bust of the, more famous and local than I realised, the original Mr Punch with a deep and more interesting history than I ever imagined. All along the streets you see images of Pulcinella who goes back to the middle ages. It wasn't only nice to see the bust but also to be interested in finding out a bit of the hidtory behind it.

The character of Pulcinella was created n the 17th-century.
Pulcinella is known as a schemer and a thief and has become a common character in Neapolitan puppetry. This sculpture was created in 2012.
There is a belief that if you rub Pulcinella’s nose, then you’ll be blessed with good luck, or at the very least, the chance to return to Naples!
You can see Pulcinella’s nose has been well rubbed and it is very shiny in comparison to the rest of the statue.
