We were lucky enough to spend a week in May in an amazing apartment overlooking Marina Grande. Yes, the Marina is extremely busy, yes, it is crowded, the shops perhaps overpriced, but the Marina itself is gorgeous. So many things going on during the day,...More

You need to pass through the Marina Grande if arriving on Capri by ferry, but it is soooooo busy my recommendation is to get out of the centre as soon as possible. It's ok for a coffee before boarding ferry back to mainland but just...More

There has a lot of people most of the time we visited this place. Too much mostly. Very touristic place. Quite high prices to eat and go shopping. The view to the sea is good.

The port isn't beautiful and there is nothing special here. There are a few shops but that's about it. Use it to get to Capri but do not spend time here.

We stayed for two weeks in Sorrento in an apartment we rented in Marina Grande. The name of our apartment was Casa Marama. 2nd floor apartment with views of the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius and a glimpse of Capri to die for. Every room had...More

Marina Grande is the arrival point on Capri. Good shopping, nice restaurants. If staying on the island opt to take the Funicular railway over a taxi or bus, much cheaper and direct to the walking point in the main area of Capri! There are also...More

Marina Grande is the first place of Capri that you will see when you arrive on the island. And it is just because the ferries from Naples and Sorrento berth there. It's a hectic place with a lot of people, just arrived or waiting for...More

Getting off of the ferry, the marina area is nice. There are restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. Take the funicular to the top to get the best the Island of Capri has to offer. I visited on a rainy day in November and the marina...More

I was interested to read review by pnk1111. I also was short-changed at ticket window for funicular. I was surprised at how little change I received. Walked away and checked the ticket price on the board, worked out the guy had given me change from...More

When you arrive in Capri by boat, they all dock at the Marina Grande. And its absolute carnage! Bedlam. Get off the boat and get off the main marina thoroughfare as quick as you can is my advice. It's simply far too busy to enjoy...More

My daughter is attending a wedding in Capri the end of May. I want to hire for her and her guest a boat to take them from Capri to Positano, stay for a tour and lunch and return to Capri. Help?

We have friends who go from Positano to Capri and back so I'm sure you can do the opposite. I just googled how to rent a boat on Capri and the first site I chose does do private tours including to the Amalfi coast.

Hi Everyone, Just planning my trip to Italy in May and have a question - ( well I have lots but will start with one) I'll be taking the ferry from Sorrento to Capri and thought I might go straight from the Marina Grande to the Grotto prior to heading up to my hotel in Anacapri.. my concern is I'll have my luggage with me. Does anyone know if there are storage lockers at the Marina to hold your things while you're out on your excursion? For the sake of time, I'd like to get my grotto visit in as soon as I arrive in the am and then explore the rest of the island later. I'd also love any great restaurant tips!!! Thanks & Ciao' Shirlee
