This is a well produced visitor experience. You need to see it to understand Matera. I'd read Carlo Levi's And Christ Stopped at Eboli so was aware of the context but the pictures bring reality to the fore.

Really worthwhile to visit Casa Noha at the start of your visit to Matera. The tour gives a 30minute really informative summarized account of the challenging history and development of Matera allowing an even deeper appreciation of the town as it is today.
