Even if you do not intend to buy, it is a feast on the eyes with the building and the vast array of food displayed within. Go have a look!

A great working market which is used by the locals, all types of fresh produce on offer. Does not feel like a tourist trap which others sometimes do! Only a short walk from other attractions so would definitely recommend a visit.

Lots of local produce to be found here. I found the actual building more interesting though. Beautiful from the outside and then look up at the ceiling when you go in.....wonderful.

The Mercado Central is an old market place that has been renovated. The architecture great and the place is very nice to visit. There is a lot of food stands and everything looks very good....but still the ham....

There was one place in the market that you could sit and get coffee but you are sitting around a bar type area. Breakfast is a no but there are plenty of places nearby for that

If you take a taxi, download "Cabify" app to your smart phone. They are about 25% cheaper and better than the taxis (no tipping aloud).
