It is interesting to see a folk museum and an archaeological museum combined together. The collections of the first were built with money and style and the outcome is skilful. The appearence of the latter is simple and traditional, but the archeological finds which are displayed are great. The paleolithic stone tools are amazing.

The Casa de Beneficencia was built in 1841 over the old Convento de la Corona and was used as a hospital in the 19th century. It had 8 patios. Today it is a cultural center, which contains the Museo de Prehistoria de Valencia, the Museo de Etnología, and the Institució Alfons el Magnànim.

La Beneficiencia Cultural Center has two museums, the Prehistoric Museum and the Ethnology Museum. The Prehistoric Museum was started in 1927 to investigate and conserve the rich archaeological patrimony of Valencia. The archaeological sites in Moixent, Xativa, Gandia, and Lliria are being studied. The museum has salons that explain the first inhabitants and histories of Paleolithic art, the bronze age,... More
