About

- Sven ÖVästerås, Sweden458 contributionsAmazingly decoratedYou really need to visit this incredibly decorated church. It's amazing to see in all its glory. The audio guide included in the ticket was a good companion as well. It's also a perfect example of Catholic misuse of money through history,Visited February 2023Written 14 February 2023

The San Nicholas Cathedral main entrance door was difficult to find, I saw a few tourists just give up when they couldn’t find the door. The entrance fee was 10 euros, and this attraction was worth the price! The paintings on the ceiling were absolutely magnificent! The church was constructed in the 13th century, remodelled in Gothic style in the 15th century, and in the 17th century, the interior was recoated with Baroque decoration and fresco paintings of scenes of the life of Saint Nicholas and Saint Peter Martyr.Visited May 2023Travelled soloWritten 21 July 2023

This attraction did have many people inside, I am assuming it is a stop for cruisers. Try to go on days when ships are not in port!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 October 2023

The decor is a sight to behold and words will never do it justice. The craftsmanship is beyond comprehension and how long it must have taken is staggering. This was my favourite attraction in the city. The entrance is round the back of the church and not in the plazaVisited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 14 November 2023

Simply stunning, the level of detail on the frescoes and the colors are outstanding. A must if you are visiting Valencia.

We absolutely loved San Nicholas. It is a true treasure. It is reminiscent of the Sistine Chapel with every square inch of ceiling covered with magnificent frescoes. The Silk Museum was not of great interest to us and the other church was under renovation to such a degree there was no way to get a sense of it. Most importantly this was advertised as a skip the line trio of tickets. There were no lines in any of these venues. We could have walked in off the street. That said, San Nicholas was not to be missed and was worth the admission ticket for all three.

This place is amazing, the architecture, paintings and history that is in this building is fantastic. The entrance to the church is hard to find, not signposted well but we just followed all the other visitors who were looking for it, glad we did as this was worth the visit. Expect to get a creak in your neck from looking up all the time, the audio is interesting and easy to listen to. I saw a few people walk away after being told the price, I think this is well worth the price as it must cost a fortune to maintain and restore this building on a yearly basis. The gift shop was closed the day we were there.

The art is fantastic all over the walls and ceiling. It’s very chilled inside and it was fairly quiet. The audio guide was interesting. I thought €10 was a bit pricey.

Be careful, the tourist map is not clear as to the precise location of the museum. I went along thinking it would be boring but it was interesting with good a good audio guide in English. The museum went through the history of silk making in Valencia in a building that was the centre of the trade in the city. There is also a good shop if you want to pick up clothes or a fan. Overall good value for €8.

I struggle with church reviews. Seen too many. Can't help saying "once you've seen one, you've seen them all". I suppose you do get a chance to get out of the heat or rain. Also agree that the price seems on the high end.

i am sure it is amazing but the price is ridiculous. it is a church ! you should not pay 10euros per person to go in there. for a family of 5 = 50 euros !

Thanks for your visit. San Nicolás is a church but it is a museum, which means that it has restoration, communication and camera mediators. The price includes an audio guide in five languages, and there is a reduced admission of €7, children under 12 years of age enter free.

We walked from the cruise ship area and it took about 45 minutes at a reasonable pace. Taxi is good and readily available or the tram but the walk is much better through the town.
