Here you can view several large wooden sculptures by the famous sculptor Salzillo depicting scenes taken from the Bible, and focusing on the Crucifixion and aftermath. The works are beautifully carved and painted, almost disconcertingly lifelike. Illustrating various episodes surrounding the arrest and... More

Some of the best religious work I have ever seen. The observation is terrific, fantastic observation, the sculptures have amazing character. The church attached to the museum is amazing with a life-sized Last Supper.

I am biased but I really love this place. We saw the Easter parades one year and it puts this museum into perspective. Good catholic gore on display! The works are exquisite. The nativity scene is amazing, take your time as the display cases don't flow with the story. There was a Neopolitan nativity on display as well - again... More

The level of intricacy of the carvings and tableaux is mind boggling but if you are a Doctor Who fan don't turn your back and definitely don't blink

Half museum/ half curch, this place really worths the visit. With two different sections, firstly we visited the Belen, a representation of the Nativity based in Spanish culture. We also saw a very impressive Neopolitan version in an itinerant exhibition. But the most oustanding experience was the Salzillo's sculptures, especially the last supper. Do not miss it if you are... If you just see one thing, it is the Last Supper with the apostles and Christ carved and painted in as life-liked as we had ever seen. But then there's the Belen which is inspired by the Spanish countryside; while in contrast the Neopolitan Belen which was the result of collections of two kings is captivating. The details in the...
