Very clean compared to London and Paris; most trains have air conditioning. Frequency I’d good, usually every 5-7 minutes at rush hour.

I've been to Madrid many times and I love their metro. Getting "lost" on the metro is a great way to explore the city. Taking time to pop up from a stop and get lost until you stumble across another station is an awesome way...More

We were surprised that the ticket machines did not have an English language option. It was frustrating at first but an attendant eventually came over and was very kind to help us.

The mass transport system of Madrid, including the buses and trains work like clockwork. Always on time in my experience. There is a plus and it is if you get lost or confused because you are a tourist as I am you can always ask....More

The Metro is a great way to get around and to / from the airport. You have to get a plastic card which you load with a certain amount of journeys. Currently 10 journeys cost Euro 12.2 although at the airport you need to pay...More

Traveling throughout Madrid by train is simply a pleasure. Schedules are on time, the route mapping both inside the train and on platforms helps any tourist. Atocha Estacion is the main station linking you to routes outside Madrid. Customer information desk staff training though can...More

Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where
many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where
the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and
people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main
thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is
Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables
serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture
of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses

I believe with the ten trip ticket you have to say how many people will be using it from the airport and it adds the appropriate supplement but I did not purchase one of these, that was just from my research before arriving... More

Normally any of the metros have the maps and they're free. Or go online and look up madrid metro. There's also a good app I use every day. MadridMBC which has the Metro, Bus and Cercanias train times and maps on.
