Barrio De Salamanca is a wonderful district of this most beautiful of city's, its an area renowned for its amazing variety of shopping outlets both high end and high street with lots of boutique shops there to discovered ,the architecture in this neighbourhood is fabulous, so many grand looking buildings ,it's such a photogenic area of the city ,for me and my twin brother Stephen ,we enjoy the huge choice of pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants that make Barrio De Salamanca such a vibrant district ,if you're planning a holiday to Madrid its most definitely a neighbourhood to check out .

A nice stroll through narrow streets with high end shops. This is a nice neighborhood and our understanding is that it is a fairly wealthy area. It certainly seems that way given the shops we passed. Not sure there is anything worth mentioning to visit in this area other than, perhaps, Mercado de la Paz.

.This is the Madrid Barrio for people with money. It’s all designer shops, upmarket hotels and expensive restaurants including several Michelin ones. And frankly in that respect it could be in any capital city anywhere in the world. But it’s saving grace is its architecture and design. Large tree lined leafy boulevards containing several impressive mansions laid out in a grid formation, and is a very pleasant area to stroll around. It’s very clean and perfectly safe, but compared to other barrios of Madrid, it’s all a bit sterile and lacking in any real culture.
Yes there are plenty of street bars and cafes, but this is the area where the monied classes of Madrid go to be seen ( and unfortunately heard). So if you are one of these you will fit right in, if not you will probably have an annoying idiot on the table next to you.
It’s an interesting area of Madrid and easy to get to and from using the city’s excellent metro system and I am glad I visited it. But for interest and life give me Barrio de Las Lettras and Barrio La Latina any day of the week.

Had high expectations for Salamanca touring - as read it was very posh, many mansions, etc. It is true there is high end shopping but very spread out, and perhaps a mini narrow mansion (not as opulent as Paris, etc) squeezed in between other buildings. It was far more busy (weekday - noon) than expected, even on less busy streets - didn't seem very posh or peaceful. Not a must see unless really into high end shopping.

Shop district with trendy shops and nice streets to walk on a sunny afternoon. Plenty of cafes to stop by and located close to several attractions. Recommended after visiting one of the several good museums of Madrid

Salamanca is one of the districts in Madrid. It is located to the northeast of the historical center of Madrid. The impressive 19th-century boulevards of the representative Salamanca district are full of exquisite restaurants and boutiques of famous designers. The Salamanca district is one of the wealthiest areas in Madrid and some of its streets, such as Goya or Serrano, are some of the most expensive streets in Spain. Locals often visit Platea Madrid, an exclusive gourmet market set in a former theater building. You will also find the National Archaeological Museum, which displays prehistoric Iberian relics and works of art, and the Lazaro Galdiano Museum, where you can see works by Goya and Bosch.

I just love those charming little streets with nice shops, restaurants and trees. It's like a small village that humanizes the city. Great to escape summer heat, have a good meal or shop around. Go to Calle Juan Jorge or Calle Puigcerda for a large choice of restaurants.
