I love the architecture in Madrid ,it's an amazing city ,some of the most beautiful buildings in this most gorgeous of city's are the churches ,one in love to view is Church Of San Isidro. Construction of the church begun in 1622 under the guidance of Pedro Sanchez until his demise in 1633 ,the church was completed by architect's Francisco Bautista and Melchor De Bueras in 1664 although the church was consecrated in 1651,dedicated to St Francis Xavier ,one of the most distinguished Jesuits but with the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1767 it was rededicated to Saint Isadore in 1769 ,the church actually holds the remains of Isadore The Laborer ,Patron Saint of Madrid. During the Spanish Civil War the church was damaged by fire in 1936 with many works of art lost ,the dome collapsed also but under the guidance of architect Javier Barroso the church was restored to it's former glory. It's a wonderful and historic church that's most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Calle De Toledo.

In the heart of Madrid, very near to the Plaza Mayor. Built in the 17th century, this beautiful Baroque church contains the mortal remains of the patron saint of Madrid, St. Isidor the farmer, and his wife. Ornate decorations are found throughout the interior. If you’re visiting the Plaza Mayor, take a few minutes to walk to this church and see this Baroque edifice. Bear in mind siesta hours when it comes to access to the church. It’s open 7:30am-2pm (1pm in summer) and then again 7pm-9pm.

Visited the day after the San Isidro Festival. Curious to learn more, we were pleasantly surprised to find out it was free! Though small, we enjoyed the history of the area & people who inhabited the area over many years. Includes dinosaur & Roman pieces found in the region
