This is one of the most impressive arches in Madrid however it is a bit out of the way so I suggest come on a Sunday and spend an hour or two in the Flee Market located about 500 metres West of here in La...More

This old gate dating of very early 19th century was the entrance of the city South West and it has a significant historical importance for Madrid. From there some of the best walks to explore Madrid start

One of the original gates of Madrid, not very accessible as in the middle of a very busy roundabout, you can however get a good picture from the city tour bus.

This is a large triumphal arch completed in 1827 and set in an impressive position but is not easily accessible due to the traffic. Not much else to see in the area.

Puerta de Toledo is smaller than the Puerta Alcala and not as impressive. Again it is located on a roundabout, the tour bus will go past but this is the smaller historical gate to the city.

The gate used to be part of a wall around Madrid. Not a defensive wall, more like a demarcation line in which taxes had to be paid. The walls have gone, the gate and the taxes are still there.

Puerta De Toledo is located in the middle of a large roundabout. It is an impressive arched monument with large pillars decorated by several smaller sculptures. Not much to see there other than the structure itself.

It is good to see it while in Madrid. For me, Puerta Alcala was the best, so it was not that impressive to see Puerto de Toledo. However, it good to see it while there.

On Sundays the streets around Toledo gate become a colorful market. Thousands of stalls which display handcrafted jewelry and clothing. On nice Sunday morning you might enjoy a walk along

I think is the smallest out of the 5 of all Madrid. Not far from the center so I walked. Not much to see, a gate in a roundabout, a couple of restaurants on the South side. Not much else to see around it if...More

La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique
personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly
old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among
charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like
yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is
characterized by a young population and a bohemian
vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection
