Good hop on option in Madrid

This hop on bus has an organized map of stops & good information on headsets. I only did the city center tour.

OK, this is similar to Hop-on-Hop-off tours we have done other places. It is ok if you are looking for a ride around Madrid with the ability to get off and explore at various historic sites. It is nice that they have a historic route and a modern route, and that you can switch between the 2; but no way... More

We waited for 1nd stop for 30 min nothing arrived, went to stop 5 another 30 min and nothing. Someone called and No one picked the phone. We have to take a taxi. Second day I complained to person selling tickets and she asked me to talk to person at first stop. The lady there was rude and unappologetic. Moreover... More

I definitely would not recommend this. A complete waste of money. The reality of the city tour is it doesn't cover that big an area and you don't see that much. Much better to walk and if too far for you, catch the metro. We caught it on Calle Mayor the first day and it was a shambles trying to... More

Since i normally don't plan when I get on a trip, especially in major city, a city bus tour will help me get an overall idea first and then decide what to do. Overall, I is ok to take one day pass to get a feel. Not worth the 2 day pass. Since most of places are easy access on... More

We bought a two day ticket for use on a Wednesday and Thursday and decided to do the two different tours on the two days. On day one the traffic was so bad we'd hardly travelled any distance after an hour so decided to just get off and walk round. The time we were on the bus was punctuated by... More

Much of the tour was cut out due to various demonstrations and roads being closed. This is not their fault and they do put notices onto the bus stops, but speaking to locals this happens every weekend so I would suggest taking this tour during the week. It gives you an overview of the city however the tour guide via... More

I bought my tickets online, which were a little cheaper. The audio worked great and there were many languages to choose from. The stops were convenient and the buses were on time. It was warm below when we were chilled above but the view is better up top. I plan to do this in every city I can.

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
