It’s ok… it’s exactly what you’d expect from an armoury museum. Doesn’t take too long to walk around. Has quite a few floors though so it’s worth a visit- especially if you go in the evening where between certain times it’s free entry (about 1/2 hrs before they close).
Would have been better if they offered some exhibitions which were a bit more interactive. It’s not ideal for children/ families.

Nice museum to visit. It is quick and informative. Be sure to access it through the main gate - do not follow your google maps.

This collection of fully caparisoned horse and mounted knights in full armor is amazing! This displays are stunning! But we were very disappointed that we were not allowed to take photos! Otherwise I would have given this a 5 star rating. Does not make sense that you cannot take photos. This should change. But the collection of armor is stunning!

This was the main reason we wanted to visit the Royal Palace was to see The Royal Armoury. It was facinating, different, and something we had not seen at other locations in our travels. I would recommend stopping and visiting if you are in madrid. It took us about 40 mins or so to view everything at our own pace.

It contains weapons and royal suits of armour. On display is an elaborate armour which once belonged to Charles V. It has been opened to the public since the 16th century.

I'm not usually into armories and weapons but the exhibits in this museum were interesting enough to hold my attention throughout the visit, and entrance is included in the main Royal Palace ticket anyway. Even you don't have interest in the subject you cannot help being wooed by the beautiful full-body armors in the museum, some of them completely covered by gilded artwork and embroidery patterns.
Most of the works date to the 16th and 17th centuries, i.e. the Spanish Golden Age, and include personal armors worn by Emperor Charles V and King Philip II of Spain which they also wear in their most famous portraits. The tiny armors made for royal children were adorable, and the full equestrian armors covering horses as well as riders seemed straight out of medieval jousts picture books.
The museum is divided between two floors and should not take more than an hour to visit, however make sure you have seen all you want to see on the main floor before descending to the lower level: the attendants there seem to get annoyed if you go back on your steps to see something again (though they have no right to stop you as it is not a one-way route museum). Audioguide information is included in the main Royal Palace audioguide and some of it is quite interesting.

If you're visiting the Royal Palace and have time, the Royal Armoury is definitely worth ducking into. If you enjoy military history, than this is a must. From old armor for knights and horses to various weapons used over the years, it's impressive these weapons and armor have been preserved since medieval times, and it's interesting to see them now and learn more about warfare through the centuries.

This is one of the most extensive medieval armories I’ve come across. It’s part of the Royal palace and I enjoyed it more than the rest of the palace. But of course that depends on your personal interests.

The Royal Armoury of Madrid is a museum that contains the collection of the personal arms of the Kings of Spain, military weapons, armours and a small but eclectic mix of tapestries, paintings and other works of art and trophie that form part of the royal collection.
Among the most notable parts of the collection are the decorative full armour used by the Emperor Charles V and King Felipe II. Just as impressive are the collection of armour for the young royal princes.

The Royal Armoury of Madrid is quiet a large collection of old military stuff. There are all kinds of weapons, armour and related military ware. It is interesting from a historical point of view and curiosity. You could spend half an hour or an easy two hours in there just browsing. It is amazing what weapons they used those days. You probably don't need to read any information, as the exhibits are more or less self explanatory, mostly. Worth having a look.

Can I access the Royal Armoury of Madrid without being at the palace, as separate museum?
