Walked round the park and its just spectacular, a must place to visit when in Madrid. Look out for the trees that look like brocolli.....

The Retiro Park was originally the gardens belonging to the Royal Palace. Now open to the public. Very well-kept gardens with various atmospheres. From French gardens to wild-type of gardens perfect for a stroll in Summer. Includes various lakes with rowing boats and a rose garden which is in all its splendour in Spring. In Summer you can find Concerts... More

I have visited Parque Retiro, and it never fails to impress. It is such a beautiful park with great views of the city. If it's a nice sunny day, one of the best things to do is sit in the park with a nice bottle of wine and newly found friends!

Buen Retiro may very well be likened to New York's Central Park, although at a fraction of the scale. For visitors, it's certainly worth a visit for its local flora and its manicured landscaping. For residents and students abroad, this is probably the best place to do a morning jog. There is a lake on-site complemented by a big monument... More

It's difficult to feel unsafe there. To me, best walk is, in the evening, around the Cristal Palace with it's small lagoon ahead. Along the weekend it is common to find any kind of artists performing, playing, painting on the floor. There are also bars called "chiringuitos" and restaurants and an artificial lake where you can rent a small boat... More

I absolutely love this park, it's very big and has the lake which you can hire boats for at a cheap price. You can hire bike and cycle around or take a stroll and see the french quarter which is stunning. You can sit anywhere in the park as well as drink/eat something (which is a little overpriced) Great at... More

We had 4 days in Madrid so to find this park so central and with easy access was just great as it was a great place to run early in the morning. With most of teh hotels less than a km away running to the park and then around it was extermely safe. Aaprt from that, the park is beautiful... More

I was visiting with my daughter who had been there before and she guided us to her favorite places which included lakes and fountains and of course, the Crystal Palace (Palacio de Cristal). The full name means pleasant retreat, and we certainly enjoyed our time there. The park was occupied, but not crowded (it was a Thursday) with families and... More
