On a roasting hot early evening my twin brother Stephen and I were exploring around this area of Barrio De Sol and we walked through Plaza De Jacinto Benavente ,viewed this square many times over the years and it still impresses me.
I love the architecture around this plaza ,viewing Teatro Calderón is always a joy ,there's a great statue on this square called Monumento Barrendero Madrileno ,a statue in honour of the street sweepers of Madrid, around the square and in the streets leading into Plaza De Jacinto Benavente are some great pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants, all in all its a great plaza to check out if you're planning a holiday to Madrid.

Madrid is full of theatres! During our afternoon walk, we arrived at the Plaza de Jacinto Benavente - and spotted the beautiful Teatro Calderón! Very impressive!

It’s really my favorite section of Madrid—modest and “human” in scale and offerings: excellent chocolateria and restaurants (such as El Cardeno) with outdoor seating, the Teatro Calderon, and just a couple blocks from the enticements of the Plaza Mayor (west) and Plaza de Santa Ana (with its historic cafes/diners) east. I stayed at the Hostal Persal a couple decades ago and may try it again next time. Great place to base yourself.

The plaza was very busy as there were many people gathering here. There were many shops and restaurants around. It was a lively scene.

I had read about a craft market in this plaza but we certainly could not find it. The plaza itself is very busy with two lanes of bus stops. We did not linger.

Plaza De Jacinto Benaventa is yet another fantastic plaza that we visited on our recent nine days holiday to Madrid.
Madrid is justifiably famous for its innumerable cool plaza's ,this plaza looks superb ,great architecture abounds on all sides ,theres lots of great pubs, bars and restaurants around the plaza and its popular with both locals and tourists alike, we were here twice on our holiday to Madrid and on both occasions the plaza was very busy and vibrant indeed.
A great plaza ,well worth a visit to here if your in the area.

Plaza de Jacinto Benavente is a pleasant public area. There are cafes and restaurants where you can grab a seat outside in the open air and enjoy your coffee, with your company and watch the world go about their business. Worth visiting for a bit if you are around the area. The bronze sculpture of the street sweeper will definitely delight you. We passed by several times and had to stop to watch him. It's a must!

This is a great area to start and end any adventure in Madrid. You can get to almost anywhere from here. Great restaurants and friendly local atmosphere. Close to Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Calle Arenal and Calle Atocha with easy access by walking or Metro to any other location. Lots of activity and people watching. Our favorite place to hang for sure!

This plaza center in Madrid is full of ppl with a great city vibe. All kind of markets, restaurants, shopping and a metro line. Easily accessible to walk around and meet and talk to locals. Stay away from any souvenirs shops as you can buy elsewhere for cheaper.

This plaza in is named in honour of Jacinto Benavente, the Spanish dramatists and 1922 Nobel Prize winner for literature. As usual with plazas around Spain, there's plenty of restaurants and cafes around the square. This plaza is also in a busy part of Madrid and many of the size streets leading to and from the plaza also has plenty of of places to eat and shop.

As plazas in Spain go, there's nothing really notable about this plaza other than the aforementioned distractions. There's is however a rather interesting bronze sculpture in the square of a road sweeper replete with a a bronze sweeper and rubbish attached. A very popular selfie attraction on it's own.
