Slightly disappointed in the fact after a long walk on the Rock this was the last attraction we visited. In essence just a small garden and the tower. It looks better at night from the town when it's illuminated

This beautiful castle is located in Sintra which is just a train ride of about 20 minutes from central Lisbon. On arrival many desks and tours touting for visitors. So, if you get the ticket which takes you on the hop on hop off bus you can decide. However, my suggestion and from my experience is to go to Pena Palace first as the queues are much longer. Then Moorish castle and then Sintra town itself. The other castles and palaces if you have time and started very early.

Moorish castle though is lovely and there’s some great views as it was built as a Military fort about the 10th century. Still looks amazing and also make sure you have good treaded shoes as steep too.

Was looking forward to this but was very disappointed, a long walk up hill along roads and steps only to find next to nothing there, next to nothing on display and not much to look at.
the only positive was the views.....

Very basic, lots of stairs, limited views. Not anywhere near as interesting as other attractions around, but if you are passing you might as well visit.

Very good, interesting. Lots of steps and no lift (too old!). Available on the decent from the top of the Rock or via the Nature Reserve walking ticket.

I didn't had time to visit this castle. I saw it only from the outside. I seems to still be in rather good shape consider that is 1000 years old.

It is worth the climb to the top of the castle to get the views all round. There could be better information boards but seemed there was only one outside. I would say if you have the time to visit then go see it if you like medieval history but this could do with some more love and attention to turn it into a better site. But still not bad and the staff there were helpful.

What remains may not seem impressive, but this castle has see approximately 1,000 years of history. In that time, the winds of change have blown over the entirety of the Iberian Peninsula many times.
