I found it very interesting and was only £2, the staff were friendly and helpful. I was staying in the Bristol Hotel and the museum is in the street next to the hotel. I was pleased I popped in as it doesn't take a lot of time to walk round but was worth going to.

I've heard that the proprietor is particularly interested in the Neanderthal Man story as the species was discovered in Gibraltar 8 years before the Germans found it in the Neander Valley. This shows as there is very little about Gibraltar's history in the last 100 years. In my view they should start with recent history and join the dots back,... More

We popped in as we were exploring the town and came across it. The entrance was just £2 each and we found it interesting and informative, and not too long or boring! The staff really knew their stuff and were on hand to answer questions. I'm really glad we popped in.

The Gibraltar museum was founded in July 1930 and located in the home of the Principal Ordinance Officer, then known as Ordinance House, or more colloquially known as ‘Bomb House’. It has informative displays on the geology, caves and landscape of Gibraltar and on the wide-ranging, and in some cases, unique natural species. The Neanderthal people of 127,000 years ago... More

Well worth a visit if you are in Gibraltar. Gives a good insight into the history of the Rock, as well as its geological background. Give yourself at least two hours, and don't miss the Moorish Baths.

Not well known but a great start to your trip in Gibraltar as it has all history dating back. You will then find the rest of the Rock more interesting as you will be able to place where and when events took place.

Fairly recently upgraded, this small museum is well worth a visit for an introduction to the Rock's history. The building itself is very interesting, built around the well-preserved remains of extensive Moorish Baths. The story of the oldest Neanderthal human remains is well told. On the down side, the staff on duty at the time of our visit were not... More

Very good value (£2 entrance fee) and thorough history of Gibraltar. Highlights were the Neanderthal section and the Moorish baths. Perfect for a cloudy/rainy day in Gib.

Very little money to enter. Lots of displays showcasing the history of The Rock. The building itself has a number of different levels and a couple of staircases so not all that easy to navigate but worth the effort. The moorish baths in the basement are very interesting and the model of The Rock in one of the top floor... More

This museum has been completely revamped since I was last there. £2 admission is cheap for what you get, lots of interesting facts that I didn't know about the rock before.
