We visited the market on a Sat when it was really busy with all the locals with their shopping trolleys getting their weekly shopping. There is lots of food - fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and also delicatessen shops and shops selling food typical of the region such as Tarta De Santiago. You can also eat here as there are a... On certain days of the week this market is a bustling event with stalls spilling out onto the surrounding streets. The market is big and is housed in several buildings. We visited on a Monday and it was quiet. However, quite a few stalls were open and we bought local cheeses and cured ham. Also available were fruit and vegetables,... More

This is a great market if you have a kitchen or for gathering a picnic. There is so much to choose from- produce, ham, cheese, many meat shops...Everything looked fresh and it was fun to see all of the typical food products.

Small but excellent market Get there early as by eleven it slows down Great cheeses , look for the lady who sells just the one make/type of cheese, super cheap and superb, also sells fresh quince, yum and also half the price what others charge. There is a restaurant of a type, you buy your meats, seafood, chicken or whatever... More

A good place to buy and taste local goodies, like cheese, meat, fresh seafood and even already prepared pulpo. We have bought some best local cheese and already prepared pulpo and tried it in the market winery. Perfect place to buy or to even taste at the place some local food.

We visited this market on the recommendation of the owner of our hotel and were not disappointed. The market was bustling with activity on a Saturday morning, mostly with locals and a few curious tourists like us. We went back again on Monday to buy some meat and cheese and found a much more quiet market and more meat than... More

Very clean yet functional market. All fresh produce on display and very good insight in what the locals buy and eat. the fish section was amazing in terms of variety and the freshness of the fish. It is only a short walk from the Cathedral.

The local food market in Santiago De Compostela has consistantly fresh food, lots of choice & is very busy (which is always a good sign!) What we found to be even more interesting was, there is a service with one of the restaurants - Mariscomonia Restaurant, which is within the market - area 5, & if you buy your shellfish... More

This is where all the best in local produce is available. There is also the opportunity for you to have the meat or seafood cooked for you at Stall 81 for €4 per meal per person. Mariscomania is the name and one of the 2 gentlemen who run it speaks English. Great idea.
