As many have said before this church has a great view of the town and the waterfront. What they don't say is that if you are in Sitges in August or September (Google search the Feast Days for each Saint to get future dates) you will be treated to 2 spectacular displays of local Parish culture. Get ready for lots of parades and fireworks! Even if you aren't religious you'll get a taste of Spain this way.

One of our nieces and her lovely husband and their two beautiful little girls live in Sitges and we have been lucky enough to not only see our two sweet little great nieces christened at Santa Tecla a couple of years ago, but are here again having experienced the most amazing parades, human towers, fireworks, over the past five days. The whole fiesta is an experience never to be forgotten. The crazy way that the fireworks are lit, twirled around and generally paraded through tiny cobbled streets, the almost Morris dancing and May Pole dancing, human towers etc. is absolutely magical. It is all so much more relaxed, so much fun and would be totally stopped in London by "jobs worth" type people. We are in a "stay Sitges" apartment in San Sebastián which is so well equipped, just round the corner from a lovely beach, and has everything you could possibly want. Only 4days until we go home - it has gone too quickly and I am sure we will come back soon. The diversity of the people who live, visit and are here are what we need to make a happier and more tolerant world.

We spent a magical afternoon wandering around Sant Bartolmeu and Santa Tecla on a beautiful July afternoon. There are many spots for spectacular photos of the church and the Mediteranean. Views out to sea are spectacular and there were lots happening - buskers, swimmers, and families enjoying the sunshine. Was a lovely afternoon - well worth the visit.

On the top of a little hill, looking over the sea and the village. Nice architecture. Romantic lightning in the evening.

An icon of Sitges.

The little church has many thing going for it offseason it has the best view right on the waterfront, the entire is modest and simply great to reflect.
In summer you will have the religious parade and the festival which will include firework and so many people..

The area walking along to the church is flat however to walk up to the church to the right (seaside) there are steps, many of them. Take a walk to the left along the narrow streets and you come to the same vistas. The views of the sea and the rocks below is quite peaceful and to stroll down through the small side street and see the street vendors is a delight. The area opens out on to the next beach where a short stroll gets you to some very nice cafes and restaurants where you can sit and wonder which of the people passing by have either been or are to the nudist beach a bit further along the prom.

Seemingly open only for services, (Sunday at 7,8,9,11,12; daily at 19:30), I visited prior to an 11am Mass, after waiting for the doors to open 20 minutes prior to the service beginning. The half dome over the altar is beautiful, but the ornate side altars lining the side aisles are stunning.
Returning for midday Mass, the celebrant was jolly, interacting with the congregation, singing in full voice. The service was in Catalan. A baptism followed, so further touring was not possible.
