    Pleasant…
A good way to spend a couple of hours. Took the line 3 subway to Paral-lel and this then connected to the funicular which took you to the cable car. The funicular is part of your subway fare but you need to buy another ticket for the cable car, or walk up. Pretty nice views over Barcelona and the marina area. Could take or leave the castle itself.

    This is really good.
I didn't know anything of the castle before I visited and I'm surprised this doesn't rate higher in Barcelona attractions. Easy to get to by 150 line bus (stay on the bus until the top), fairly cheap and most of the information board stuff includes an English version. The historical displays are good and told me lots of things I didn't know about its place in Barcelona history. And the views are fantastic.

    Beautiful views
Cool old castle, and interesting to see the cannons. However, the best part were the views from the top of the castle. There are some displays inside the castle which were also interesting. There is food and drinks available for purchase in the castle as well. Clean bathrooms are in the castle as well.

We took the Teleferic up the mountain purely for the amazing views over the city but on the spur of the moment, decided to pay the 9 Euros to go into the castle. So glad we did because the views from the top are breathtaking.

The view from the top was the only redeeming quality of the visit - the castle is overrun by construction/restoration which is noisy and dusty. I understand that the castle needs to be restored but around half of the castle is being used to store materials which is very unsightly.
The audio guide was monotonous and dull and not worth the extra euros paid for this. The chronology jumped around and was difficult to follow. The toilets had no soap or anywhere to dry your hands.

I certainly wouldn’t recommend to anyone - enjoy the view elsewhere without having to pay for it!

The modern fortress appeared on Mount Montjuic in 1640, during the uprising of the Catalans against the Habsburgs. In the middle of the 18th century, the Montjuic fortress was reconstructed according to the design of Juan Martino Kermegno. Between 1779 and 1799, new fortification work was carried out, as a result of which the fortress received a modern look.

Yes. Take the cable car to get there!

The grounds are well maintained.

There was an interesting exhibit inside and the opportunity for a self guided tour, or guided tours in various languages.

Pretty inexpensive tickets with the opponents to visit the botanical gardens and return visit.

Look at the reviews carefully - many are talking about Barcelona's castle of the same name!

Great ruins to go and wander around in. A steep 40 minute walk from the cathedral. We spent about 45 minutes exploring the ruins. All free so no money needed.
