Neighbourhood: Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theatre that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.

This is a very pretty square in the older part of town. Nice picturesque architecture around as well as lots of places to eat and drink. We spent some lovely time here.

After a delicious dinner at Marcelino it was grand strolling around the atmospheric Plaza.

Interesting that when it was set out in 1840, Gracia was still an independent town in the vicinity of the big neighbour.

Much flora adds to the ambiance, as does the plethora of cafes and eateries.

Nothing here to see in Gracia much less go out of your way to visit. It is relatively small, partially surrounded by restaurants. Pass it by.

Nice and busy, interesting place for the tourists. You can find everything there: from restaurants and bars to shopping centre en museums nearby.

Plaza del Sol is one of many in Barcelona. There quite a few cafes and restaurants in the area as well as many other shops. We were there during the day and appeared to be a nice area. Don't know about night time!

Plaza Del Sol is a rather busy plaza in the Gracia neighbourhood, it's not as famous as say Plaça De Catalunya or Plaça Espanya or as beautiful as Plaça Reial but it's popular.
The architecture is nice, there's some really good cafe's and restaurants here and the transport connections are superb.
We were here in September, weather was absolutely amazing,we went a few cafe's, sat outside and enjoyed a few beers, soaked up the vibe in this busy and bustling square.
Well worth checking out if your in the area.

Personally I don’t see a lot to attract me to Plaza del Sol however it is clearly popular.

I would suggest it is most popular with those looking to save a little money and bring their own food and drink without having to pay for the same at a café.

I like squares with a family feel but there are a few children or few old people. It is primarily a 20+ group that seem to be eating and drinking peacefully.

Swing by and if the environment isn’t for you, go to any of the other nearby squares.

Sit and relax. Non touristic spot and a great place if you want to get mixed up with the locals. Mostly crowded during the night.

First of all, I’ve only just read the reviews from residents- and I must admit I wouldn’t be too happy about living around the square.

The above said, I’ve visited the place several times with my wife and children and although there is a bit of marijuana smell around and people sat on the floor drinking- I found the place really good fun.... we’ve sat down with everyone else on the floor (as well as seated in one of the bars/restaurants) and never seen any trouble or excessive noise...... but then I don’t live there, so my review is based on being a tourist as opposed to a resident.
