This is not just a department store. Its gourmet floor on the lower level is full of food options that vary from Belgian chocolate, 6000 euro whiskey, fresh fruits
to ready made food choices like paellas and fresh baked goods of every kind. It is a great place to pick up a sandwich amd enjoy it in the park next door. One also can get tax refund processed right in the store .

I Found What I needed

I needed a couple of household things for our rented apartment so I came to this huge department store and found just what I needed. The staff helped me. Busy place. Nice to see people shopping.

He easily said customers plays with the tags he even asked me don’t to call him a friend 😂☝🏽 Racist

They he took the price tag away leaving blank 😂🏷️

Great Department Store Near Placa Catalunya - not to be missed

Centrally located and close to public transportation - bus and metro is El Corte Ingles right on Placa Catalunya. This huge department store has several stories with shopping options for everyone. The top floor is for food although it's entirely inside with 360 views of Barcelona.

The "basement" level of the store was my favorite as it had a really great supermarket, ready made food and a gourmet store of wines and foods and this is where we purchased most of our souveniers, as well as bocadillos and pastries to go on a daily basis. The staff is very pleasant and nice. There is also a wine bar on this floor allowing you to try the top wines they sell in their wine store. A definite must for anyone visiting Barcelona.

HOLA -Den of Thieves and Dishonest Spaniards and Platitudes

I had my backpack stolen today under very strange circumstance. I was shopping in the store and have recently spent many Thousands there setting up a new apartment in Sitges.

The staff refused to show video footage because I had not filed a police report. Security and information a the store " did not know where the Police station was" and one of the women in the section where my bag was stolen gave me a false address on La Ramblas. ( I have the handwritten note proving same)... cute

I found the Police station and made a Police report- this all took hours.

I will be demanding to see the video footage tomorrow from El Cotre Someone has my car keys, house keys, passport and legal documents, I think they were hoping for more. I do not think it is a petty theif or bum or drug addict.

Meanwhile , my car is stranded in a parking station, and I have no passport. Mercedes Assistance Spain kept me waiting all day for a tow truck- included in my assurance plan ( to get new keys from a dealer) only to have me drag it out of them that they were not coming. Then the train back to Sitges was out- another 100 for the taxi. A courtesy car was included for Europe but Mercedes Spain said without my original passport I could not have one ( despite having a photo license and NIE number and copy passport.

See the pattern,,,,,, " oh so sorry"

More to follow Tuesday. I do not think this was a wandering thief since it was in a remote corner of the store, it was not another Tourist... so who was it???

The view is surreal

Please go to El Corte Ingles in the Placa Catalunya. Go to the top floor restaurant/cafeteria and marvel at the panoramic view of Barcelona. It is astounding. And if you happen to want to shop, you are absolutely in the right place!

Everything you need in one roof

The grocery stores and the deli. The Argentinian empanadas were uniquely delicious. I had the meatball and tuna flavors. Their Paellas were good for not being a restaurant and price was very inexpensive. I kept going back three times to get me paella especially the seafood one.

I ordered clothes on their website. I didn't recieve one item at all and they ignore return request for another one. Really awful experience!

Attitude problems...

I have been to this store on a number of occasions and I have to say that the staff are rude and mostly unhelpful. It's hard to find someone to help you, usually because they are busy doing something other than customer service. If you are lucky to find a member of staff, they hardly know anything about their products . I have been or talked down to so many times in this store, my friends also have had terrible staff attitude problems here and very upsetting experiences. If they intend to sell to international visitors, i suggest Corte Ingles train their staff in good customer service. Certainly if they are unable to learn an international language like English, to help tourists find and advice them on products, then they should at least try to be patient with people trying to speak Spanish and not talk to us like we are scum of the earth. Yes I agree with the afore said review, possibly the worst service in the world.

Breathtaking view upstairs

The Corte Ingles is a multi-level superstore, much like a mall with a grocery store. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the city on the top level with the cafeteria. Enjoy tapas while taking in all that Barcelona has to offer. For families with picky eaters, the cafeteria has enough options to keep everyone pleased.
