Not much to it other than it's an impressive large bronze statue of a cat. A guide told my group that luck comes to whoever touches its bell or balls. Something about returning to Barcelona if you do. Cool statue, dont feel the need to...More

Located about 10 mins from La Rambla the big cat sculpture is in a quiet square in Raval area. I wouldn't make a special detour to visit this unless you are into Botero's work

I’ve given this giant ugly fellow 5 stars out of sympathy. The story goes that Botero made a gift of this somewhat rotund feline, to the city of Barcelona. Barcelona being a city of great beauty, we’re somewhat taken aback and it has moved from...More

El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this
gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an
excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic
spots in the entire city. A sense of humble
authenticity protrudes from the many independent
record stores, second hand shops, and student bars
that seem to light up the streets day and night. The
rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day
