The Placa Espanya is unique and great for looking at different types of architecture with the old bull ring full of shops and eateries. Gives great links to the rest of the city and up to the Castle of Montjuic. A must visit to this area when visiting Barcelona.

Most visitors will pass through here on their journey from the airport via taxi or bus. The Aerobus from the airport stops here, and there is a large metro station that takes you to most places, including to Montserrat. The magic fountains are here and they do a wonderful night show. This leads up to the museum, and the steps... More

We drop by in Placa Espanya when we returned from Montserrat. It is a huge and nice place with all the major transport stops such as metro, train and buses there. Arena de Barcelona is next to Placa Espanya.

A lovely place with loads going on around it. Arenas shopping area is right beside it and well worth a visit. The buses all go to it too, as well as the Metro.

Must see this one. One of the most impressive places in Barcelona, especially the view of the Museum Nacional D´art Catalunha by night. Go see the fountain. got an metro station that stops there, very easy to get there.

Centrally located with public transport (Euro bus) pick up right in-front of hotel. Very good breakfast but pricey bar on top of hotel. Rooms spacious but not 100% maintained

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
