The Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, born in 1913 in the gypsy quarter of Somorrostro which then existed in what is today Barcelona's Olympic Village. Carmen Amaya made her debut in 1929 before King Alfonso XII on the site which is today the Tablao de Carmen at the inauguration of Poble Espanyol de Montjuic.

Let me start by saying other than the receptionist this place was fantastic, the Flamenco was captivating and invigorating. the food and drink provided was very good. What marred the evneing from start to finish was the receptionist who seemed to take a strong dislike to our group of seven ladies. It was obvious that the colour of our skin... More

Great food and exciting show! We had the Carmen menu with a great selection of tapas, an entree, dessert, and pitcher of Sangria. We brought our kids, ages 1 and 4, and even though the show portion was an hour, it really held their attention. The dancing was fantastic and like nothing we had attended before. Definitely arrive early to... More

This was an excellent way to complete our trip. The dancers and singers are very committed to their performance. They are extremely athletic, energetic and wonderful in their performances. The cost was not very much and we were amazed at the great service, excellent food and the bottle of wine and generous portions of sangria we were served. Reservations are... More

We loved the show, also the locations, and the amazing time we had in Poble Espanyol before the show (and we did not pay for enterance - usually it is 11 or 12 euros). I would not say that the food was the best one in Barcelona, but it is not really important when you see such an amazing flamenco... More

We booked online for five people and were given what we thought were the best seats in the house. We were on the second floor and had a great view of the stage for photos! We decided on the tapas menu which included six different dishes, a bottle of red wine and a jug of sangria. It was all very... More

A very impressive and energetic dance performance, overall I enjoyed it very much 10 out of 10! Really admired their talent. All the co-artists are also very much involved and all have a great chemistry together. We booked for the 7-8 PM show with Tapas. They recommended us to be there by 6:15 PM for dinner. We got there 10... More

The food was excellent, we had a 3 course dinner plus tapas, but best of all was the show. The both the dancers and musicians gave a passionate performance.

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
