I try and visit the zoo in every city I visit, if they have one. Going to Barcelona Zoo was a must for me when my husband and I booked our trip. We thankfully had a lovely sunny day, and overall enjoyed our visit here. The main reason I am giving 4 rather than 5 stars is because of the lack of staff that were available around the zoo. When we were at the giraffe enclosure, some stupid obnoxious family thought it was okay that their young child had picked up some random branch with leaves from the ground, and decided to feed it to the giraffes. This genuinely enraged my husband and I. The leaves on the branch could have been poisionous to giraffes for all we know. They were standing right at the sign that explicitly said to NOT feed them, and the parents were laughing and smiling as the giraffe came to eat the branch it was being offered. They were not English speaking, as otherwise we would have immediately told them to stop. We left hoping to find a member of staff to tell immediately, but annoyingly there wasn't any staff in sight. We had to wait until we were leaving, and informed a member of staff at the gift shop who told us how he had no authority in that regard, and so he had to tell someone in security. At that point it was far too late, about 15-20 minutes had passed and the family would have moved on at that point. I sincerely hope the zoo gets more staff stationed at enclosures like this, to avoid this nonsense happening again in future

The zoo is bigger than you think and easy to get turned around in, but there are maps throughout to help you. I would recommend downloading the zoo map before arriving though. There are lots of different animals to see, some quite up close. Some were in smaller enclosures than we liked, but I understand that they are undergoing renovations to improve that. We visited on a Sunday afternoon so it was fairly crowded. I would recommend avoiding the weekends if your schedule allows to avoid the bigger crowds. We were there on a very hot day, but there are very few shady places to get a respite from the sun and these were typically filled with people, so you really feel the heat after a while. Unfortunately many of the restaurants and snack areas were also closed, but we found a vending machine to get some water. I strongly recommend bringing in your own water and coming earlier in the day when it would not be as hot.

The zoo is difficult to access and had the parking lot under construction and it is difficult to park in Barcelona you have to go to the port parking lot. Many of the enclosures were empty and there were no shows and we couldn't see the dolphins, big downside. The tour of the park can be done in half a day.

It is a visit that lasts about 2/3 hours, they are enough to see all the animals. From various birds, to giraffes, elephants. The felines, which I love, we got to see the tiger, the lionesses. The jaguar was hiding in the den and we couldn't see it. Too bad! Nice monkeys. Recommendation make tickets online Skip the line tickets on tiquets so you go straight to the turnstiles

Been many times to the zoo having lived in the city for the last 11 years. Instead of improving I feel that it has gone backwards. Many areas no longer exist or are now closed to the public.
The 7pm closing is a little deceiving in that many of the animals are put in their pens by 6.30pm leaving very little to see.
The reptile house is closed and no new temporary one is available.
All considered I feel this should be taken into account with regard to the entry fee until such time they renew the facilities and advise before people purchase.
The platform for the elephants no longer has access. You can only see them from a distance and through great metal poles. I thought the new area for them would look different.
Finally the security staff are very rude. Both at the entrance and to the insect house. We are paying customers so polite manners would be appreciated

Good sized zoo with a wide variety of animals. Not many food options though and a lot of the stands and cafeterias were closed when we went. Maybe because it wasn't quite their peak season yet? It didn't feel particularly busy and we went during the may half term holiday. We managed to get half price tickets as we booked it months in advance our visit was a bargain but even at full price, when I compare it to similarly priced zoos in the UK, I think you get value for money

We visited the Barcelona Zoo in the early afternoon and found it to be a large and diverse attraction with a wide variety of species. While some animals were napping during our visit, which is to be expected at that time of day, there was still plenty to see and enjoy. The zoo’s expansive layout offers lots of different habitats and exhibits to explore. Overall, it’s a great place for animal lovers and families, just keep in mind that some animals might be resting during the hotter hours.

Stay in Barcelona with my 5 year old daughter.
I had hesitated following the very unpositive comments read, but, as our Inn was 10 min walk from the Zoo, I let myself be tempted. And we had a great time, from 10am to 2pm. My daughter loved it. I found the zoo very well maintained and very complete, animals, catering, games... We haven't seen the past time. We had planned to stay there only in the morning, but, we got caught up in the time. A beautiful shared moment.

Had a few hours to kill so I popped in for a visit, not sure what to expect. Four hours later I’m pretty sure I covered all the exhibits… maybe. Lots of animals I hadn’t seen up close before such as a large Komodo dragon. Worth a visit earlier on in the day. I got in at 10:30 on a weekday and it was pleasantly uncrowded and relaxing.

I have read many negative reviews, however it is seen that over the years they have improved, it is true that there are still neglected places, and species that cannot be seen but that is not the fault of the enclosure, and in general they look well cared for and fed, in relation to food. The cost is within the norm, a coffee with milk, a ham and cheese sandwich is 5e and you are quite satisfied. I liked it in general
