About
The Barcelona L'Aquàrium is located in the old harbour, Port Vell, and is the world's most important marine leisure and education centre dedicated to Mediterranean undersea life. It is the perfect place to find out about the seabed and all its different species. You'll learn about them through the 66 Mediterranean and tropical tanks which are home to 11,000 animals from some 450 different species. The most spectacular of all is the immense Oceanarium, the only one in Europe. A transparent 80-metre-long tunnel runs through the Oceanarium where you can walk among sharks, giltheads, morays, ocean sunfish and many more species. Planeta Aqua and Explora! show the importance of water in the development of our planet, and kids can discover the underwater world by using their five senses.

Reasonably good sized aquarium with variety of fishes.
Beautiful little aquarium with variety of fishes and 360 view. We are a family of 3 and our daughter just turned 1. She loved being at the aquarium and enjoyed good 4 hours there. The staff were friendly and helpful. Aquarium was reasonably good sized and well organised.
Thank you very much Trushant for your review, we’re so happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us.

    Great Aquarium for all ages
My 20 year old son and I had a Go City pass. This allows you to go straight in without queuing at the ticket office which we did not know so don’t make the same mistake as us. Once in your free to wander around and see the vast sea life on display including many species of fish, octopus, seahorses, starfish, corals, stingrays, jellyfish etc We loved the shark tunnel and also watching the one penguin that was having a swim. If you have a hop on hop off bus ticket then there is a stop on the red line nearby and you can walk easily to most places from here including the beach Nice way to spend a couple of hours
Thank you very much Lisa for your review. We are proud to show visitors the wide variety of fish and sharks that can be found in the Mediterranean and other seas around the world.

    Nature’s profusion
Within impressive water enclosures it was exciting to see so much of nature’s profusion. Corals, sponges and multitudes were resting or gliding. Sharks are a perennial attraction and many fine and fearsome exemplars are here.
Thank you very much Permia for your review. We are proud to show visitors the wide variety of fish and sharks that can be found in the Mediterranean and other seas around the world.

    Nice place but no wow!
The Barcelona Aquarium is located in the Old Port area (Port Vell), so it is convenient to get to it from anywhere in the city. At one time it was even officially the coolest oceanarium in Europe. But, time goes by, and there are more modern complexes. In general, this is quite a worthy cultural and educational institution where you can spend time with the whole family.

Worth it if you haven't been to shark aquarium before
was smaller than we expected, you would casually walk around it in 45 minutes. My son was brave enough to do the shark cage diving, it was a quiet day so instructor brought him out into the main tank where he got to swim beside the sharks, stingray and lots of other fish, big highlight for all of us seeing him do that, instructor Sergio was very helpful and encouraging. Younger son was disappointed there were no seAquariuma turtles on show. Would highly recommend the aquarium if doing the shark diving, not so much if just touring the aquarium.

    Nice but little too expensive
Aquarium is nice and well manteined. Tunnels and explora experience are surely a plus especially with kids. I would have expected some more species (i didn't see turtles or dolphines for example, maybe they have not enough space for some kind of species), but i find this attraction still good to sp3nd a funny morning with children. As other guests, i find kids ticket definitely too expensive, 21 €. A family entrance is a sort of investment, i believe that some effort shoud be done to lower at least kids price (even the biberon for fish feeding 4 euros is very expensive).

Not so happy about the penguins
It was an amazing and beautiful aquarium with lots of good informed information about the state of the oceans and the habitats of creatures. We were however not sure if the penguins are in a good space all locked up , they did not look happy. The 2 Oceans aquarium has a bigger open space for the penguins and they are moving around a lot more and seem much happier.

Worth a visit if you've never been to a big Aquarium
Very diverse aquarium, had a lot of fun observing all the fishes. It is kept very clean, for both humans and fishes. It is interesting that they also have tunnels through which you can go under water. They do have shark diving as well. They also advertise the feeding times of certain fishes so you can view that too. Be careful though as they offer to take a picture when you first come in (with a shark), but don't tell you anything more and when you exit, someone will have your picture already printed and tell you you can pay 12 euro for it. Seems like a tourist trap, but you can refuse. On exit, they have a shop with lots of plushies, postcards and other souvenirs you can buy. Entrance was €24 per adult. You can take pictures inside as long as it's not with flash.

    Nearly enclosed walk through tank
A mostly enclosed walkway circles a large central tank. Great views of large fish, including sharks. Best exhibit in otherwise ordinary aquarium. No outdoor exhibits. Area for feeding carp, but no hands on exhibits. Nice air conditioned space on a hot day.

    Nice experience
Nice place to visit specially if you haven’t visited any Aquarium before. Kids will love it. Unique experience to see shark so close. Ticket price is slightly high, no family deals. Staff takes your photo while entering the Aquarium is another hit but deafeningly you will pay for it 12 Euro if you want to get it. (which you will) . Will recommend it on your to do list

The aquarium is charming, rich and interesting. We were disappointed that there were no penguins, and I think that the tickets price were very expensive

Thank you "hands2tsafi" for your review. We regret you do not like our pricing structure. Please keep in mind that aquarium facilities require a continues maintenance in what is a very corrosive environment, and we have a great team of biologists, researchers, caregivers and aquarists looking after our thousands of animals. We're sorry you couldn't see the penguins. The facility was closed for two weeks for maintenance, but it's now open again. Do not hesitate to contact us info@aquariumbcn.com.

Visited this place again after 10 years. The same place with no newer activities for kids. Unfortunately the penguins were not there. Loved the sharks and the stingrays.

It is very overrated and the price is not worth it. We came mainly to see the penguins, and there weren’t any. There wasn’t any information that they aren’t there. We feel scammed. It’s a waste of time and money going there. It could be interesting for someone who’s not been to an aquarium tho.

Thank you Emanuela for your review. We regret that the visit did not meet your expectations. At L’Aquàrium, we have more than 10,000 specimens of around 450 different species. We're sorry you couldn't see the penguins. An information note at the aquàrium ticket office informed that the facility was closed for two weeks for improvement work. Awesome with the kids. About 4 hrs of enjoyment. Great displays. Shark display, in particular, was brilliant. Currently bits are under renovation.

I visited on Sunday 19/11/23 and it was 25 Euros each to enter. There was building work near the entrance but you are soon into the initial exhibits which (like all the aquarium) focused on Meditaruan species. The best part of the aquarium is the Oceanarium, where a tunnel over 80 metres long brings you close to various types of sharks, rays, morays and other species. The cafe seemed pretty poor in terms of offering and price, but the shop had some great-looking soft toys. The toilets near the cafe were the only ones we saw and were very small and accessed via a very narrow path. Overall it was a decent enough aquarium but not one I would revisit anytime soon.

It was very overpriced, they try to make money wherever and as much as possible, for example 2 photo hard copy they ask for 16 to 19e, that's super crazy.. The price of ticket itself is heavy. 1.5 hours max you can cover everything, nothing is special except the portion where we can the bigger aquarium on all 3 sides.

A little bit older aquarium and parts of it are under construction. Beautiful exhibits with explanations in both Spanish and English. The shark tunnel has a moving belt so you don’t have to wait for anybody to move to see the tank and you just slowly moving around. Great jellyfish display in a model of a whale. Its conveniently located next to the marina mall. We were comfortably done in 2 hours.

Not worth the price at all. Just normal fishes and the pinguins are like 5 in a small closed space. Too many people to even enjoy the few stuff they have not worth half the price.
