Must see fresh food market

This is the famous fresh food market hall in the middle of Barcelona. There are more fresh food market halls in Barcelona, but this one is the most famous one.

What a great market. They have everything from veggies to fresh juices and fruits, to seafood to meats. Dont't forget the popular Iberico. Lots of small restaurant serving food on a counter for around 12 seats. Food served ranging from seafood to regional catalonian cuisine. If you are a foodie, lots to discover. I spend 4 hours here my first... More

Great place for all sorts of Spainish local food. There are stalls for fresh uncooked to cooked food. It's good place for finger food or good meal. Love the pork ham n bacon sold in little cone shape for €2 -€3

Despite its appeal to tourists and its location off the Rambla, it is worth visiting during the morning when locals shop there

You should visit the marked in the lunch time. It's crowded, but if you find a seat, down in one of the bars, you have to order some fresh grilled seafood.

It is a must! Colorful place full of scents and great deals. :) We bought lots of fruit in the evening, it was still frest and cheaper. Good restaurants serving seafood, or you can buy some fresh shrimps and cook them at your apartment. The place is worth visiting. Closed on Sunday!

I still find myself daydreaming about the mixed seafood here. Best seafood i've ever had. :) It can be pretty busy during the spanish eating hours so if you're a tourist used to eating lunch at 12 and dinner at 7, I suggest eating at your regular meal times to get good seats at the food stalls.

this is an absolute MUST for any foodie!! the variety - the smells and the sights will not leave you disappointed! Its apparently often so crowded by tourists "just coming to see" that the local traders can get a little miffed!! we found them friendly and welcoming - takin gtime to explain their fares and dishes. and the prices were... If you are in Barcelona this is a must. A beautiful market with all the food you could imagine. All sellers were very helpful and some offered samples. The smells, atmosphere and colours are worth the visit alone. Very busy but totally worth the visit.

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
