The area
Address
Neighbourhood: La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-metre boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetising selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.

mesmerizing displays of nature’s bounty, voluptuous arrangements of fruit, olives, cheeses, mushrooms, meats, seafood - congested....

Huge market with so many choices of things to buy and eat; however, It is so crowded that social distancing is impossible. We would have stayed more than just a few minutes but just too overcrowded.

What a feast for the senses! A wonderful place to explore, stop for a snack and if you can find La Palmera restaurant - a little haven away from the hullaballoo - try the paella. The waitress said it was the best in Barcelona and I can't fault her.

Can't really understand negative reviews hete that criticise how much of a tourstic place it is and how bad the food is. I mean I can't compare to earlier times and it surely is crowded but we definitely found some places with great food; still dreaming to get another portion of burritos I had at one place. Surely there are some booths that will sell food that probably ain't that great but from the looks of it the quality generally seemed quite fine. Either way, I liked it though I also wouldn't say it's the best place for eating as well. Would recommend to try it once at least.

The market was definitely the highlight of our trip to Barcelona - it was so good we visited twice! The fruit smoothies were incredible (we had strawberry, coconut and dragonfruit) as well as the meat tapas stalls. On our first trip we ate at one of the dine in bars which was really nice. We would definitely recommend visiting at least once!

This market is lovely, although very busy - it’s full of tourists taking pictures, as well as customers. There’s a really good variety of fresh produce, and the produce is of a very high quality. I purchased seafood while I was there in order to make a seafood paella, which I made straight away after visiting the market, and the taste was divine. The centre area is more expensive (taking advantage of tourists), so head to the right, where the price is a little less harsh on the pocket.

We visited the market on a Wednesday morning after visiting the Gothic Quarter. It was very busy but full of stalls with fantastic food on sale definitely worth a visit.

I was rather disappointed by this. I had high expectations and thought this
Would he the highlight of my day. But it was the same kinda of foods at most booths. Food was decent but nothing em overly exciting. Definitely more money. We had purchased empanadas at a restaurant about 6 blocks prior to getting here and they were 2 euro. Here they were all 3 or 3.50 and no better. It was also their festival week so the amount of people in there was absolutely nuts. Just was far from enjoyable and relaxing.

Really interesting, loads of nice eats and drinks, Unfortunately we visited when the place was swamp with German football fans, many chanting loudly, which sort of destroyed the Spanish ambience! W had some really nice fresh fruit salads.

We are very short of time in Barcelona when we visit in February. Would it be worth going on Saturday evening? Very keen to see it and soak up the atmosphere but may be a waste of time? Any advice or experience gratefully received.

Is there a place that provide cooking service for the raw seafood we purchase at the market?

I don’t believe so. They have fresh fish/seafood stalls, and they have prepared and cooked foods of all kinds at the restaurant/food sellers stalls, and they have dry goods stalls, and bar/pub stalls but I didn’t notice any that let you pick your specific fish before you have it prepared on-site. Neat idea though.
You might be able to ask the maitre d’ at your favorite restaurant if you can bring something to them to cook for you?
Do you have to pay to go into the market or is this a trip advisor mistake?

I don't think so as it is a public holiday in Spain.
