Neighbourhood: El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.

The Grandma's Cooking Class was one of my favourite experiences that I've had in Barcelona!
Cooking with the lovely grandma is very authentic and unique experience. Grandma shares her secrets and she's always smiling.
It's very interesting and cool to join them for the shopping of the ingredients before the class. They know the best places from where to buy the best products. Fresh fish, fresh vegetables and fruits - delicious!
The best moment of the class is the end when you all sit at the table to have the lunch that you've all cooked together. <3
Thank you for the great time and for the amazing class grandma, Yves & Veronica - you're wonderful!

My wife and I love cooking classes and previously had an amazing experience in Italy with a similar concept--so we searched for cooking classes and grandmothers and stumbled on this! What a fantastic time. Both our translator Lucía and host grandmother Adela were great fun. We made local Catalan seafood-based dishes that turned out delicious!

What a fun night! Veronica, Cali and the rest of the crew welcomed us and our kids with warmth and kindness into their lovely kitchen, where we spent a fun evening cooking the most delicious meal. Cali was spectacular. I loved learning some of her special family recipes (the meatballs!!), and my kids felt right at home. After 10 days of restaurant eating on our vacation, this was a welcome change of pace. Surprisingly relaxing and full of laughs. Thank you for a fantastic evening! Highly recommend!!

DO NOT BOOK THIS EXPERIENCE. In January I booked a class for when I would be in Barcelona in April. During March I received a number of emails asking me if I could change my booking. This made me nervous and so I cancelled my booking with 10 days notice. As per the terms and conditions, I was entitled to a full refund. On 18th April I was told a refund had been processed. As of today (11th May) I have still not received a refund and my emails are simply met with replies which say there are no funds in the payment system and ‘thanks for your understanding’. I do not think keeping €85 of someone’s money when you have provided no service is right or legal, as such I feel I have no choice but to warn others.

we enjoyed a good evening with Yves and Conchita, our self taught Grandma cook. Set in a relaxed and informal setting of someone's home in the centre of Barcelona we had a hands on experience preparing a 3 course meal and learning some new techniques - great for beginners or amateur chefs

Fantastic time and authentic Catalan cooking experience in a home with a true Grandma. 100% would recommend and I would personally do it again! Nice to have a family dinner in Spain!

What an amazing time! The food was amazing, Yves was super helpful and patient with my lack of cooking skills, and the location was beautiful. It was a great cultural experience and so worth it. 10/10 recommend

If you’d like to feel like you’ve dropped in for dinner with friends, then join Yves and one of his Grandmas. It was more like a gathering than a class and it was such a gift to not feel treated like a tourist. First, we zipped around Boqueria Market for a list of ingredients we’d all just agreed upon and then we wandered a few blocks over to a cozy kitchen to cook together, drink wine, and converse in at least three languages. My 11-year-old learned to make meatballs and to skin a cuttlefish. I got to ask questions of the locals. If we had discovered them earlier in our trip, we would definitely have gone back for more!

My 14 year old loves to cook. So I decided to book this event. 1st of all it was just him, the Granny and Veronic and I. We had a blast. A little hard to find but Veronica came right out to the plaza snapped a photo and within seconds we were headed to the kitchen. Nothing fancy but clean and cool and well stocked. The language barrier is not an issue as Veronica does a great job translating. My son and the Granny did most of the cooking. We laughed, cooked and swapped recipes. It was fantastic. So much so I am writing this review while still in Barcelona on vacation.

My friend and I were looking for something unique to do while traveling in Barcelona. We came across Grandma's Cooking and decided to give it a shot! Yves was an excellent host and made sure that our night was incredible. We prepared a traditional Catalan meal with our Grandma and then had an enjoyable dinner. The conversation during dinner was also a highlight for me. I think it is a great way to immerse yourself and experience a different culture. Our Grandma had a great sense of humor, but also made sure that we were learning her cooking style and secrets. I recommend this to anyone looking for something different and fun to try while in Barcelona. We would definitely do this again and any other event run by Yves!
