- EC13091Ellicott City, Maryland1,549 contributionsLovely squareThis is a lovely in the center of Salamanca. Stop to feel the beat of the city, with cafes and shops surrounding. There’s a tourist office here, but no public rest rooms. Make the square one of turn first stops.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 October 2023
- helenbbyrneLondon, United Kingdom104 contributionsA must visit venue when in SalamancaWhat a beautiful place to visit. We went during the book fair - stalls were set up across the square. The architecture is beautiful and the roads that lead off the Plaza all lead to interesting places to visit and see. So much to see in Salamanca. Loads of restaurants in the Plaza and also just off the Plaza in the side roadsVisited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 November 2023

Anyone visiting Salamanca is certain to come home and it is a great place to hang out. - Unpretentious FoodieLos Angeles, California21 contributionsTown Square with flairIt's worth a visit and a walk around. 10 minutes of your time. The city hall is beautiful. There seem to be apartments on floors 2-3 which is interesting. Would be fun to have an apartment there to come and visit here more often! Sometimes there are events inside, we heard some musicians playing Vivaldi's fourth season, winter. Beautiful.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 June 2024
- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia19,438 contributionsSpain's most beautiful Plaza MayorEvery single Spanish city or town has its own Plaza Mayor - the most central square, mostly rectangular in shape and encircled with 2-3 storey buildings around. This one in Salamanca we found being one of the most beautiful ones. Visited it twice - early in the morning with almost no one around and late at night when it was bustling with life - cannot tell which was better, we enjoyed both. There're many cafes and restaurants around but I would only suggest having a drink, as food is mostly touristy (higher prices/lower quality) so eat somewhere else.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 August 2024

We visited this place for the first time in July 2021. Plaza Mayor is very close from our hotel. It is only 5 mins on walking. The plaza is always with many people. They have many restaurants open for people to enjoy their day. At night, there are some performance from some musicians and dancers.

This is the most beautiful square in Spain.
While it does tend to be noisy and crowded that is what adds to the atmosphere. Then at nigh with the buildings all illuminated he place takes on a whole different elegance. It is the place the locals come to meet parade and gossip.
Even as a visitor you could feel the happy village vibe.
Come to the plaza after 9:00pm and grab a wine and tapas in one of the cafes, sit back and just enjoy watching other people enjoying life

Great place to people watch and absorb some of the local culture. Late Saturday night we came across a group of “troubadours”, a band of singers/musicians in traditional garb performing popular tunes. They were visiting from Jaen and competing with the university groups and bands from other parts. The crowd were joining in the singing and dancing. A great way to spend Saturday evening. Finished the evening with a super delish ice cream.

Many cities have an Old Town and a Plaza Major but Salamanca's is the prettiest. It is busy day and night and it looks spectacular when lit up at night. All the buildings appear to be fully functioning. There is a wide variety of restaurants and cafés, some serving local dishes and others serving Western fare.
This is the plaza you return to after sightseeing in other parts of Salamanca. There is something for everybody. The people in the square appear younger than elsewhere, likely because they are university students.

same as almost all cities in Spain , Salamanca also has this beautiful historical la plaza mayor.
best time to visit is at nights which you can see lightnings decorating the old buildings and you can eat or drink at any of the bars around the square.
around the square you can chose the street ending to beautiful cathedrals or street with all kinds of famous brand shops at two sides of you.
there are many activities you can do there.

Of course we went to the Plaza Mayor while in Salamanca. Interesting plaza with shops and food spots. When we were there it was a holiday and civil service workers were protesting.
Along the interior there are medallions of leaders. Franco’s has been removed.
It reminded us of San Marco plaza in Venice.

Does this hotel have on site parking
Written 20 April 2016
Yes, the hotel has it's own parking. It is a little tricky to go into the parking because the streets are very narrow and the entrance to the parking is quite difficult. Reserve the parking in advance because it is limited. Once you park your car, you may forget about it since everything to be visited is at walking distance.
You need to arrive to check in first so they will open for you the garage and tell you how to get in.
