This university was founded in 1218, and it houses the oldest library in Europe. For 10 euros (5 euros for students) you can tour the original building and take a self-guided tour. Each room included an explanation in English and Spanish. The library can be viewed but cannot be entered; the other rooms can be entered.

Mysterious place full of medieval history. Good to visit with a guide to learn a bit more about the old times curiosities.

The University of Salamanca is the oldest university in Spain, and will be celebrating its 800th birthday in 2018. In the center of the Patio de las Escuelas (Schools Court), you’ll find a sign counting down the days until this big event. Unfortunately the school’s famous façade was covered with scaffolding when we were there. Scaffolding also surrounds other Salamanca... More

A good place to visit the oldest university in Spain. The current famous university wall is under construction, but normally you can look at the wall and the tradition is, if you can find a frog engraved in the wall amongst the other decorations, you will be able to pass the academic year!

You won't stop marveling st the architecture inside and out of the several buildings of all the facultades. I studied here and getting there is a breeze from the plaza mayor (as is almost anything else) and I loved sitting in the older classrooms although the newer buildings still have a vastly different feel than that of university buildings in... One of the oldest universities in Europe, it celebrates its 800th birthday in 2018. It had a good online reputation for language courses, so I came here to brush up on my Spanish. It did not disappoint - one of my teachers was excellent, and the other was really good, too. The language courses are run right in the middle... More

We love visiting old Universities. This one did not disappoint. Due to restoration work outside, it was not possible to do the compulsory search for the 'frog' as the facade is covered. I would recommend the tour of the University, a 10€ fee applies, obtainable from a ticket machine in the foyer. You need cash as the machine does not... More

10 euro is really expensive considering that the beautiful Biblioteca is not accessible at all. You can view it through a glass "cage" at the entrance, take photos from the far, and thats all. The other parts are nice - you feel impressed by the age and history of the building -, but it feels like they could develop/enrich much... More
