Wander through the University of Salamanca, either on your own or with a guide. Beautiful building with a lot of interesting facts. How students were able to study, a long time ago, their exams procedures and much more.
The university is also used for functions, like weddings. Busy but worth it.

What a wonderful place to visit. The whole area is steeped in history. The cathedral and the university are amazing (even though most students now attend classes on the outskirts of Salamanca. There are a number of street side eateries to take advantage of. And if you're fortunate enough to see a performance by Tuna, don't miss it!

The Universidad de Salamanca has been educating people since 1218, flowing with the times while imparting knowledge in myriad disciplines. The primary campus is centered near the cathedrals around Plaza Anaya. The names and dates you spot written in red calligraphy on the sandstone walls commemorate doctoral graduates in each "facultad" or department. The museum of the "Sky of Salamanca" within the university is not to be missed! Be sure to see inner courtyards, the "aula magna" or great hall behind the plateresque facade, the statue of Fray Luis de León in front of the facade and the frog hidden in the facade itself.

The University comprises a large number of beautiful buildings in the centre of Salamanca, all constructed from a lovely golden sandstone. As we were on a day trip to Salamanca we did not have time to go inside any of the buildings but did spot the frog on top of a skull on the exterior of one of the buildings ensuring that we would return to Salamanca!

The University of Salamanca is the oldest university in Spain and the third oldest in Europe. It’s campus is predominately located in the old section of the city and its buildings generally are historic gems and tourist attractions worthy of a visit.

Visited with a guide, who gave us good insight into the university. Look for the frog carved on top of skull on the ornate carvings, it is a symbol of the city.
Very impressive, externally and internally, Would recommend a visit, to see the classrooms and stunning library.

Really nice building, the staff could be friendlier and better educated (especially in the shop), sad that the first university in the Spanish-speaking world has come to this. Remember to find the frog on the façade.

Because of the role of the University in the history of the city, a visit is a must. The facades of the buildings and the architecture are impressive.
Visiting the classrooms is like going back in time.
The entry fee of 10 EUR is however quite pricey.

As the first university in the country, its importance to Spain cannot be understated. It was founded in 1218. It adopted the Copernican system, namely, that the sun was the center of the universe. Its buildings can be found throughout the old town as you walk the streets.
