Must visit

An historic University which is a must see. It is still an active school, this THE place to go to learn authentic Spanish. Beautiful old structures.

It was quite amazing to learn about one of the oldest universities in the world. Because I was there for a study abroad, my tour was in Spanish but even then I was able to learn so many curious things about the university. Each room offered something new and different and it truly felt like you were in a different... More

Visiting a university town like Salamanca is not possible without visiting the university. Very impressive indeed and inspiring to learn it's history.

A must visit as this is the oldest University in Spain. The place where Spanish was recorded and written.

You will never get tired of looking to its carved wall. Elegant, beautiful. Truly essential part of the visit.

University of Salamanca was founded in 1134, one of the top universities in the world after Paris and Bologna. In July you can participate in celebrations awarding undergraduate degrees. Ancient amphitheater is no longer used, but can be visited: they are special.

The biggest disappointment is feeling cheated during my tour of the university. Ticketing is handled by a machine, but assisted by an attendant. There was the option of 10 Euro that will include entry to the Archbishop's College OR 4 Euro for the regular visit. My friend and I bought the 10 Euro option, just to find out later that... More

The price to literally see four historical classrooms , the red velved clocked carpets in conference room , the ever present , heavily overloaded barroque chapel and the classy library is just too high. The best, the library which is very worth a look. The worst , the central stark and barren cloister. 800 years needs to be maintenanced and... More

Walked around the university for hours. Such incredible buildings side by side. Worth taking your time, strolling and appreciating the incredible architecture.

This university was founded in 1218, and it houses the oldest library in Europe. For 10 euros (5 euros for students) you can tour the original building and take a self-guided tour. Each room included an explanation in English and Spanish. The library can be viewed but cannot be entered; the other rooms can be entered.
