Built in the second half of the century. XVIII, in neoclassical style, owes its name to Diego de Anaya Maldonado (1357-1437), a Spanish priest and patron.
The old College of San Bartolomé was housed in this building and is now part of the University of Salamanca. It is open to the public for visits, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Visitors are asked not to make noise so as not to interfere with academic activity.
Free entry, I was only on the entrance floor, with a courtyard, and I found the building more interesting on the outside than on the inside.
The Faculty of Philology is located here.

The first time you enter the Colegio de Anaya, you can't help but feel impressed. Beautiful interior courtyard as well as the front entrance, well worth coming inside to have a look. It's also nice and cool inside on a hot day!

Take a look at the Hospederia de Anaya building next door to the right, which also has a lovely smaller inner courtyard. The buildings belong to the Faculty of Languages.

The Colegio is fantastic in itself, but for me it is particulary the surroundings the small park and place between the Colegio and the Cathedral that are fantastic. Go and visit in the late afternoon if it is sunny, the effects of the sun in the Villamayor stones is very, very nice.

This palace is currently the Headquarters of the Faculty of Philology of the Public University of Salamanca. Its works began in 1760, being built in a neoclassical style, to replace the previous school, which was badly damaged by the Lisbon earthquake of 1755. Inside I could see the beautiful Cloister with its galleries.

The Anaya Palace is a Neoclassic building that has a beautiful façade, with four very tall Ionic columns below a triangular pediment. The courtyard has a double gallery with 16 Doric columns on the ground floor and 16 Ionic columns at the upper gallery. There is a magnificent imperial staircase with a bust of Miguel de Unamuno.

Seems like an under utilized plaza, which is surprising, as the entrance to the magnificent cathedral is just a couple hundred feet off to the side. Definitely a place to sit down and let time go by.

The imperial staircase leading from ground to the upper level is most impressive with its decorative vaulted ceiling and lion statues on the first landing. The courtyard with the double gallery of columns is noteworthy.
For me, the "cheers" recognising that a student had obtained a doctorate were fascinating. All contain the stylized word VICTOR, the students' name and date of graduation but it was the flourishes to the penmanship that made many unique.

In 1401 Diego de Anaya y Maldonado founded a school for bright students with no economic means. The original building was damaged by the Lisbon Earthquake in 1755, and a 20-year reconstruction was undertaken in 1760.
The resulting neoclassical palace currently houses the headquarters of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Salamanca.

Nice college to study in. We found the door to the cloisters open off the plaza and wandered inside and even went upstairs. The students seem very used to this and didn't mind us wandering around this lovely building

Still functioning as a university college. Students enlisting at the time we were visiting. 'Art' from Barceló on the patio. Beautiful facade.

When you've got the new cathedral ride beside and trees for shade when it's hot and sunny, this is the place to hang out. When at night, you're bored, this a great little plaza to hang about. There are lights on and you just have to see things during the day and night to appreciate its beauty.
