The main attraction of this building is the ancient set of frescoes in the ceiling of one section of the museum. They are in very good and original condition. Also worth seeing are the many beautiful items in the museum which date back 1300 years.

Several very old artifacts f.e. 11c silver relique-box, wooden box with ivory carvings from New Testament, 12c cup/chalice with precious gems, 12c pantheon with fresco's. Take the guided tour as it provides the anecdotes and explanations

Passed by the museum while I was having my morning walk in Leon, was closed when I was there, what a pity.

Pantheon well worth a visit. Rare 13th century walls paintings untouched. Tombes of late kings and royalty. A magnificent display of 11th century holy bibles and books all hand written and decorated of course. The panteon building is very impressive. Worth a 1 hour visit.

The place were the Saint Grial is placed, Doña Urracas Cup. Nice history. The romanic painters in the ceiling are incredible.

Leon is a rather scruffy provincial city blessed with some amazing tourist sites, this museum being one of them. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed every moment here. Such a trip into the past to see how things came to be the way they are in Leon.

I spent hours here. No photos were allowed, but I have captured the images in my mind. Extraordinary.
