As the sun crosses the sky you get a new perspective to the main gates in the ancient walls that surrounded the medieval city of Burgos. But when illuminated at night you can really appreciate its grandeur and the eye catching free standing figures. For a photographer impossible to get a clear shot because of the warm friendly and happy... More

You can see this lovely gate on the way to the Cathedral or after. It is worth seeing night and day.

The Arco de Santa Maria is an old city gate that has been restored and is very beautiful. You pass it when you go to the Cathedral. It is very clean and interesting.

This also gets lit up at night and then the statues are really set off against the stone work. Lovely gateway but although it is possible to go up it was closed while we were there.

Entrance to the old quarter is this amazing Arc with detailed stone carvings and castle turrets. Near the Riverside and a open park this is an excellent Arc to walk up to and take pics. You can visit inside for an entrance fee but we felt it was best just to enjoy this attraction from outside.

This entrance to the city of Burgos has a spetacular arch that you can visit inside, from where you have a beautiful view of the city.

Disappointed as we could only see it from the outside and knowing it was closed so they could change the display did not compensate. It just made it worse. some way could have been found to let us in surely? only there once so wanted to go in. STAMP FOOT!!

This is lovely during the day but just went by in the evening and it was beautifully lit up. A real gift to the eye!

The arch and gate guarding the entrance to the Plaza Mayor and cathedal square is certainly very spectacular but is should not detail you for long.

If you are able to find the arc open during working ours, make a quick stop and go up. For me it was very interesting to see the first pharmacy bottles used in the Burgos hospital dating from the 1547. Also there's was an exhibition of local artist and it's something that is changing from time to time. Also you... More
