I got 2 meat pancakes and 1 chocolate heart. I chose to go because I wanted to eat a little on a table then continue with the visit.
The pancakes were decent - but cold.

On the downside, while sitting at a table, an highly unpolite waiter came to me. I was extremely unhappy to be asked out because I chose to take the food "to go" and the price was different if I wanted to stay and eat in.

I have no idea if the price was different. But I have never ever seen in all my travels such a pricing policy. The waiter (a slightly older person) was way too rude. I simply walked away with a sour taste in my head.

The downside of eating in the heart of the city is that the staff does not give a cent about quality. You basically do not matter because of the crowd will keep coming.

I do not recommend the tavern due to the staff.

Make sure to stop in this amazing marzipan bakery. I did not quite understand why people from Madrid always order marzipan if a friend visits Toledo until I tasted it! It is amazing. I only wish I had purchased more. I only purchased the little bags with the marzipan shaped like in little figurines and baked in the oven. I wish I had purchased a large box prepared for travel. Enjoy the sweets if you visit. I will be back.

The art here is amazing. We visited with a guide and it was worth every penny we paid him. Words can't describe the amazing art here.

This is one of the most amazing bakeries we have ever seen. Our guide told us the marzipan was made by nuns.

They have the world's largest "Quijote" a life size statue made entirely of mazipan. It is in the Guinness Book of world records. It is almost 12 feet tall.

We don't care for mazipan, but had to go in and see it as well as their beautiful displays.

We had great purchase at Sano tome, Toledo. We enjoyed the high-quality sweets. The place is nicely decorated and it has a long history. I got the fish like sweet, it is medium size and tasty, it will surely satisfy your craving for marzipan. Great store.

We enjoyed a full day trip in Toledo. Toledo is a small medieval city. It has a charming feel to it. We visited a traditional marzipan bakery of Santo Tomé (Since 1856). The sweets are well done. The Fish like sweet with almond jam, is my favourite, it is eggless (SEE photo). The Imperial pasta (marzipan topped with almonds) and pine nuts pastry (marzipan topped with pine nuts) are equally good. I hope to visit this town in the near future.

I have enjoyed the delicious almond sweets called marzipan in Italy, Estonia and Germany but here the mazapan, is made with almonds, sugar, eggs and honey. I think the honey brings on a new flavor stuffed inside sweet pastry dough. Dave and I went to Santo Tome on the plaza and bought some of their small mazapan and a larger fish pastry stuffed with the sweet stuff for later. I did see some of the more familiar colored marzipan in shapes that resemble fruits but we did not try those. I wish I had because I prefer the intense flavor of the marzipan rather than having it diluted by dough.

Highly recommend trying the marzipan here when visiting Toledo. They also sell beautifully packaged gift boxes that make a great souvenir.

I always thought I hated marzipan until I came to Toledo! And the fresh marzipan from this place is just heaven. Great service from the ladies who can advise and give you the full list of ingredients. I never leave Toledo without several boxes and individual gifts from Santo Tomé.
