I have enjoyed the delicious almond sweets called marzipan in Italy, Estonia and Germany but here the mazapan, is made with almonds, sugar, eggs and honey. I think the honey brings on a new flavor stuffed inside sweet pastry dough. Dave and I went to Santo Tome on the plaza and bought some of their small mazapan and a larger fish pastry stuffed with the sweet stuff for later. I did see some of the more familiar colored marzipan in shapes that resemble fruits but we did not try those. I wish I had because I prefer the intense flavor of the marzipan rather than having it diluted by dough.…

Highly recommend trying the marzipan here when visiting Toledo. They also sell beautifully packaged gift boxes that make a great souvenir.

I always thought I hated marzipan until I came to Toledo! And the fresh marzipan from this place is just heaven. Great service from the ladies who can advise and give you the full list of ingredients. I never leave Toledo without several boxes and individual gifts from Santo Tomé.…

I was looking forward to this given all the amazing reviews, although I'm actually not a big fans of this dessert because I find it too sweet. I got a couple of pieces and yep, it taste just like marzipan. Meh
