I have visited the Cathedral before and was vaguely aware my ticket gave me access to this museum. The problem is that this place is not well advertised and is located maybe 5 or 6 minutes walk away in a pretty but less visited part of town which is why on a busy day I spent a good hour here with my wife and we were the only visitors!. IT is a shame as this museum is stunning. The building was the Cathedral School and is old and picturesque on the outside but has had an amazing modern makeover inside so some beautiful light and airy architectural additions. The tapestries here are vast and date back to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Their colours have been preserved beautifully in many cases and you can get up close to them. There is a reasonable amount of info in English too. Apart from tapestries there are many clerical vestments and some unbelievable silver plus a huge memorial which is only 19th century but is quite something to see. There is also a small museum covering life in the school that was here till fairly recent years as well as the ingenious ways water was retrieved in Toledo - the basement museum is small and only in Spanish though. An hour here will be about right. There are toilets but no café in the building itself.

It is a not so cited site, but must be visited! Interesting to know about tapistry function in historical sites and its associated technology.

We came across this museum by accident. The Colegio is an ancient building not far from the Cathedral that has been carefully restored and now houses the Toledo Cathedral's collection of tapestries and liturgical vestments. The exhibits are beautifully displayed in several rooms on two floors. The oldest pieces in the collection date from the 13th century and include an ancient battle standard from an Islamic army and a fascinating medieval astrological tapestry, as well as a few exquisitely carved wood and ivory boxes. Tapestry is not my thing but this was one of the more attractive places I visited in the city. The museum has no amenities (shop or café), but there is an elevator if you don't or can't climb stairs. If you have your ticket from your visit to the Cathedral, entrance is free, otherwise only €2.

If you're into religious art and royal history, this is a special place. The Maundy Thursday Monument (Monumento de Jueves Santo) statuest and pieces that were moved to the stairway entrance of the Toledo Cathedral back in the day are scattered about the place but there is a detailed explanation of each one on the 1st floor. The silver globes with detailed carved maps of each continent by artist Lorenzo Vaccaro are amazing.

The entry fee is included with the Cathedral fee, and the museum is a short downhill walk from the Cathedral. We decided to do this to get a feel of walking along the narrow streets in Toledo, and it did not disappoint. The museum albeit small, has been maintained really well, and the collection is fascinating; we could see the bishops's embroidered clothes up close. The collection is similar to the one inside the Cathedral's many chambers. The monument near the museum's entrance was beautiful. We liked this museum much more than the Alcazar of Toledo.

I was two hours here and I could stay longer…
The collection is AMAZING and a must-see if you like tapestry, embroidery and architecture.
I was the only visitor and it's a shame, because the museum is fantastic.
The highlights of the collection are works from XIII to XVII centuries.
I payed 2€ but it's included in the Cathedral ticket.

If you have a Cathedral ticket and time enough, go for it, why not... But compared to the same kind of museum in Zaragoza, this one is very poor. Dedicated entrance fee is only 2 Euro, but don't expect a big deal...

This is a relatively small museum with some beautiful tapestries and many embroideries (mainly ecclesiastical) dated from 14th-18th century. The building itself is fascinating, parts of which are medieval. The museum is well presented and information is given about each item.

The cathedral ticket also provides entry to the nearby Tapestry Museum, but few visitors seem to have either the time, energy or inclination to go there – a great pity, really.
The museum has a spectacular monument in its foyer, and the range of tapestries – many with vibrant colour – is remarkable. I was also impressed with the beauty of the staircase (see the picture …).
If you’re in Toledo for anything more than a day, this is definitely worth adding on to a visit to the cathedral.

I believe this was included with the Cathedral ticket, and it's not far away. It didn't take long to pass through and the tapestries felt quite historic and well preserved. It was a lovely visit.
If you need it there is a restroom, and a few further artifact displays downstairs.
